Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on July 22.
Six TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Wednesday at Canterbury, Sandown, Eagle Farm, Belmont, Murray Bridge & Darwin.
Canterbury: Race 5 @ 3:10pm
Peyton Place and Best Stone prominent. Another race with some good depth to it. BEST STONE (11) had a forgettable day out first up when weakening badly on a Heavy track at Randwick. Will at least have taken some fitness from the run. Drops back to the midweeks here and Rawiller sticks. Both career wins have come at this course and on Soft ground which by mid afternoon is certainly the hoped for surface. ACCELERATO (4) has been performing well so far this prep. Yet to win at this course however has placed in four of his five visits to Canterbury. SUAVE (10) resumes. Only started racing as a four-year-old during the spring but has shown good ability through limited opportunity. MANHATTAN MIST (3) resumed well on the Kensington track. Fitter for the run and has a good second up record. GHOSTLY (1) certainly isn't a fashionable sort however drops in grade from his latest outing and is a dual winner at this course. SELECTIONS: Each way Best Stone.

Sandown: Race 2 @ 1:00pm
Aquagirl may elect to lead from the rail. Doubt there's much between most of these. PISCATORIAL (5) won the Bendigo Maiden on debut and didn't get it easy. She was expected to need it and showed enough to suggest he can go on and represents some value. AQUAGIRL (1) resumes off Listed grade and just missed and then won in town the two prior. She can control the race from the rail and is sure to have come on. MISS BOSETTI (4) won at this level and held that figure beaten 1.7L here a month ago. Williams sticks and she gets the chance to bounce back. HYDRO STAR (3) debuts and profiles well. It would be no surprise to see him race boldly. The late market will tell. SELECTIONS: #5 Piscatorial looks over the odds and will back her each way. Very competitive racing all day.
Murray Bridge: Race 4 @ 2:25pm
The large field should run along but it's not clear the lead. SAMURAI MOON (11) has placed both runs back in Victoria and returns after 13 days for the in-form Doudle yard. He raced favourite at Sale the latest and just needs a good ride to be winning against these. NEODIUM (8) peaks and has been switched from Victoria by the Stokes barn. Go on the synthetic placing two back. He will push forward and can make the quinella. ARMAMENT (5) was on-speed here having his first run for the Richard yard and folded up. His best Victorian form would have him in the finish and he will be better up to the mile. CELTIC VALOUR (13) will be better for the two runs back and the mile suits. Keep him onside. SELECTIONS: #11 Samurai is well-suited and should be winning.
Eagle Farm: Race 7 @ 4:00pm
Not a big field but a stack of speed headed by Bugalugs. DYNAMIC VERSE (3) made late ground to be beaten just 1.5 lengths over 1000m at the Sunshine Coast last start. Draws a good gate this time and will appreciate the firmer track. Expect him to bounce back to form. THE WILD ONE (8) showed pace before tiring late to miss a place over 1110m at Doomben last time. That run followed a 47-day break so will strip fitter. Winning chance with blinkers on for the first time. POCKET PISTOL (7) did a great job to finish a close 4th over 1100m at Ipswich recently when returning from a 13-month layoff. Open to plenty of improvement. BUGALUGS (2) has led all the way to win his last two, most recently in a Class 3 over 1400m at Grafton. Sure to be hard to run down again. SELECTIONS: #3 Dynamic Verse finds the right conditions today - back him to win.
Darwin: Race 7 @ 5:25pm
Savatoxl and Turnberry can make the speed in the feature mile. SAVATOXL (2) has won the last two easily in this grade with the latest at this trip heavily-bet again. He keeps getting better and can go right on with it controlling the race from the low gate. IHTSAHYMN (1) resumes and brings strong figures from longer races. However he has a sharp record this course and distance and he won a Lark Hill trial in early June. A bold run won't surprise. PAGHMAN (6) has been close up the last two and hit the line hard last time behind stablemate Savatoxl. He's a genuine winning hope. LOTION (4) improved placing in the same race and gets a better gate today. SELECTIONS: #2 Savatoxl peaks and can win again.
