Today’s Horse Racing Tips – 26th July 2020

3 minute read

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on July 26.

Racecourse : Sapphire Coast (Australia)
Racecourse : Sapphire Coast (Australia)

Sapphire Coast: Race 1 @ 1:15pm

Will fly in this as expected over the short trip. Merc has the speed to lead. Nice race for MERC (2). Showed nice potential against smart gallopers last campaign. Form around Zelago & Front Page is far superior to his opposition. He's had a lengthy spell to mature. Recent trial was sharp. Ready to fire. SERB ALERT (8) has been thereabouts without threatening of late. Back in trip is a query but if they overdo it she'll be strong at the end. SCALDED (7) has the vital inside alley. Career peak to date came this course/distance when giving cheek at big odds. Still lightly-raced and with advantage of the rail throughout she should be respected. FOXY KIM (5) is the 2nd Joseph/Jones runner engaged in this. Trialled with good intent in the lead-up and it wouldn't shock to see her perform to a competitive standard. SUGGESTED PLAY: Merc with all the right formlines. Backing to win.

Sale: Race 7 @ 4:35pm

This race lacks early speed on paper. Just Like Mum, Falls and Trigger Point could roll forward early. TRIGGER POINT (6) won over this distance three starts ago in town and followed that up with a close up effort behind stakes class galloper Danon Roman. He got back from a wide draw last start but finished off nicely behind the impressive Denero. He can settle closer from a good draw here and appeals each way. HOWLOWCANYOUGO (3) disappointed last start when a warm favourite. He has plenty of ability and can bounce back here up to 1400m third up. BLINDER (7) ran well first up and is open to improvement here with added fitness. This distance suits. Keep safe. KAMIEN (9) justified his short quote when winning in town last start and looks well placed here to repeat the dose. WILDE GEM (4) won in town two starts ago and can figure if the track is in the heavy range. SUGGESTED PLAY: Trigger Point each way.

Sunshine Coast: Race 7 @ 4:35pm

Expecting a solid tempo. LA JUMENT (1) should take plenty of beating. Flashed home to just miss at Eagle Farm on resumption. Stamped himself a smart galloper winning back to back races at this venue last campaign. Second-up and primed. JOHN BOOKE (3) doesn't win out of turn. Solid effort in a similar race at Ipswich first-up. Fitter/further are pluses. Should be strong at the end. HEAVENLY ARCHER (8) has handy stats at this venue. Broke a run of outs last start at Toowoomba. In the mix. SINISTER PRINCESS (11) best of the rest. SUGGESTED PLAY: La Jument straight out.

Kalgoorlie: Race 4 @ 4:02pm

Wembley Dayz can lead and they will run along okay with a few others capable of sitting handy. AMILLIONITE (6) just missed twice before delivering the win this grade as favourite. She keeps improving and the mile won't bother on the 7-day return. She rates to win again for the leading (Fernie) yard. LAVISTARR (1) peaks off city and provincial races for the strong Durrant barn and Azzopardi replaces Pike. She was much better the latest and is suited. STARALIGN (2) switched from the Durrant to the Fernie yard 7-days ago and ran his best race winning at this level. He draws wide, but gets the hot hoop and can make the finish. WEMBLEY DAYZ (5) folded-up from the speed the latest, but the near-miss prior reads well and she will take pegging back again. SELECTION: Good competitive racing all day. #6 Amillionite will get every chance to win again.

Gawler: Race 7 @ 4:50pm

Dry Valley, Holy Torment and Calypso Storm can all cross over and make the pace. MABEL JOSEPHINE (1) has been busting to win and missed a nose here in the 64 before finding the 78 much too tough at The Parks 8 days ago. She draws to get a soft run in easier company and a good 3kg claimer goes on. She's the one to beat. HOLY TORMENT (7) resumed in good order placing from speed this venue. She came off a good city trial and has more to give. She keeps a form jockey who should manage the tricky gate. CALYPSO STORM (8) resumes and was just pipped three times near the back of the last campaign. She can come back improved and may control the race from the rail. Vorster's booking suggests she's ready to go. DRY VALLEY (6) will push forward and can build on the deserved Maiden win. SELECTION: #1 Mabel Josephine is suited at this level and will take beating.
