Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on August 14.
Five TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Friday at Goulburn, Muswellbrook, Geelong, Townsville & Carnarvon.
Geelong: Race 9 @ 4:30pm
Expecting a good tempo with Zeppa prominent. ZEPPA (11) looked good on debut and then resumed and won the Bendigo Maiden as expected. He impressed in that and looks well-placed to repeat fitter and with Zahra taking over the riding duties for the sharp yard. VOYAGE DE LUNE (2) did a good job winning the Maiden on debut and Rawiller sticks for the resumption. Draws better with the scratchings and a bold run is likely. UNO VELOCE (9) has won and placed the last two and is an each way chance improving again. KING TYCOON (6) resumes and goes well fresh. He's some hope if presented on-song. SELECTIONS: Backing the promising #11 Zeppa to win.

Muswellbrook: Race 6 @ 3:40pm
Fast tempo where Sophie's Lass, Cash Factor and Snipex Abaa are expected to stride to the early lead. Giving MARTINIQUE (1) another chance. Form on paper is being slightly harsh on him. Led and was harassed in the lead at Scone last start when weakening the final 100m. Blinkers go on, as does a senior rider. Expecting a forward showing. SOPHIE'S LASS (2) came up short in town last start. Bolted in at Scone prior to that. Still lightly-raced. Freshened and is a big player back to her right grade. HARD FAITH (3) hasn't done much of late but her recent trial was sharp. Expecting a solid speed. MATHEMATICS (4) best of the rest. SELECTIONS: Martinique gets the nod.
Townsville: Race 8 @ 3:50pm
Expect the speed to come from the wider drawn. FANAAR (12) has won two of the last three and it was easy this grade at Mackay the latest. He keeps the hot hoop and the shorter sprint shouldn't bother. He’s the one they have to beat. STAR BANNER (9) returned to racing in good order and then delivered the win here at 65 level. He also keeps a form hoop balancing the wide gate and with the weight relief gets the chance to go on. MICAWBER (14) is building a good record and has more to give off the first-up near miss. The big weight drop brings him into it. FUNKY MUSIC (17) and won two of the last three and it was easy the latest. He won't be far away. SELECTIONS: Big fields stacked with good betting races. Expecting #12 Fanaar to have an edge in Race 8.
Carnarvon: Race 3 @ 4:15pm AEST
Not expecting a huge amount of early pace. HAIL DA HINCHI (4) flashed home to score narrowly last time out over 1000m when resuming from a 109-day spell for the new stable. Suited by the longer journey and drops a little in the weights under today's scale. Has far more upside than his aging opposition and can get the job done again. GREYWOLF (2) came home strongly to finish a desperately close second over 1200m at this track last time out in a return to form. Back-marker who gets home hard and is sure to give this a shake. PREMIO MOMENTO (1) just held out Greywolf over 1200m last time at this track. Boasts three wins here and his recent form is difficult to fault. Winning hope again. SWEET TALKIN' (6) disappointed last time over 1200m at this track, beaten 3.5 lengths in seventh place as a $3.50 chance. Solid record here at the distance, with three victories from seven tries. Not to be discounted. SELECTIONS: Keen on #4 Hail Da Hinchi.
