Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on August 21.
Five TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Friday at Taree, Bendigo, Gatton, Carnarvon & Canberra.
Bendigo: Race 2 @ 1:00pm
Elementary Holmes has enough pace to take up the running early from his wide draw. ARCTIC ICE (11) resumes from a spell. Terrific run from off the speed when third at MV on debut last year. That effort seen her jump favourite in the Maribyrnong Plate but she finished down the track. Had plenty of time off to mature. Blinkers atop for Jamie Kah and she can make a winning return. GEIST (12) poses as a threat for the Godolphin camp. Never sighted first-up but she's capable of much better than that. Stakes competitive/placed on multiple occasions last time in. Few gear changes and she'll be rattling home. DIAMOND THORA (4) has talent. Good run from well back here on resumption. Trained locally and deserves respect. Could be over the odds. TOUR OF DUTY (9) bumped into a smart one here on debut. Taken along slowly by the stable and McNeil climbs aboard. Both siblings are smart and a market watch is advised. ELEMENTARY HOLMES (7) best of the rest. SELECTIONS: Arctic Ice to make a winning return.

Canberra: Race 1 @ 12:25pm
After the key scratchings expecting Little Krakatoa to take up the running. DIFFERENT TIME (4) came down the outside rail winning here this level 14 days ago on the heavy track. The extra 200m shouldn't bother and is the one to beat with the extra fitness. Stablemate CRUCIAL WITNESS (7) was second-up and came hard to quinella that race and will also be fitter. No surprise if they fight it out again. LITTLE KRAKATOA (3) raced favourite winning the Gundagai Maiden on the heavy but needs to find a bit extra to top the two above. SUPERNACULUM (11) resumes for the ACT premiership yard with McDougall booked and showed enough at his debut run to suggest he will be competitive if presented ready. Keep very safe. SELECTIONS: Backing Different Time to repeat.
Gatton: Race 6 @ 2:05pm
Hollydeen and Somebody's Girl can make the speed over the short sprint. SOMEBODY'S GIRL (2) missed a nose here off the Gold Coast Maiden win and then led at Ipswich in better grade than this beaten 2.2L. She can control the race from the low gate and is sure to take beating. CRISTOVAO (7) has just missed here the last two and they stack-up. He draws well and being back a bit in trip shouldn't bother. HOLLYDEEN (1) resumes and has the speed to make short work on the tricky gate. The fresh form is good and the 2kg claim brings her into it. COACHES AWARD (10) led and got closer the latest and he may slip into the first-four with the low gate. SELECTIONS: Keen on #2 Somebody's Girl.
Carnarvon: Race 7 @ 7:10pm AEST
Expecting Kramden to lead Behrooz at a genuine tempo. VIOTTI (4) had to dig deep to record his second win on the trot last time out over 1000m at this track, getting there by a head after a great struggle over the final furlong. Only four runs into the prep and finds a similar race today so the hat-trick is well and truly on the cards. KRAMDEN (1) raced on the pace over 1000m at this track last time and scored by a neck when well supported. Has the pace to take a forward position and bold showing is expected again. GOLDEN ACRES (5) last raced when fourth over 1627m at Geraldton on 5 June. Has a 50% top-three strike rate when fresh so can make his presence felt. NEWMARRACARRA (3) was safely held in a similar race to this seven days ago. Minor claims only. SELECTIONS: The in-form #4 Viotti to win again.
