The Jericho Cup from Warrnambool headlines a big day of racing around Australia this Sunday.

Warrnambool Race 8 @ 4:55pm

Fast early pace as Jukila, Frenzied and Dambulla take the lead but plenty of pressure hot their heels. MATAS (6) would probably appreciate some rain. Prefer to forget the last run at Moonee Valley but looking back to the run at Gawler and stepping up in trip should suit. DAMBULLA (2) might be the one. The win at Moonee Valley over 3850m was good and expect the stable to have it ready. WIL JOHN (5) will get the distance. Didn't finish far behind Matas at Gawler so has to be rated well. FRENZIED (1) won the distance race at Canberra when well fancied. Does have appeal and has to go in. BRITANNICUS (9) is another that likes distances. Might find a few better but can go in exotics. SUGGESTED PLAY: Going with Dambulla the win.

Coffs Harbour Race 2 @ 2:05pm

Not much early pace over the middle distance. HEAD UP HIGH (3) is one who can sit handy and is well-suited off the three placings. The longer trip with suit the Pierro gelding and he's in good hands. Clearly the one to beat. SWEET WILLIAM (9) has won and placed the last two running-on and can make the quinella holding that form. ARLINGTON VALLEY (1) has been around the mark this distance but needs to find a bit more to win. ITALIAN TUNE (4) won the CL1 at Armadale by a space and then just a run there after. Expect a better effort. SELECTION: Keen on the Matt Dunn-trained #3 Head Up High.

Strathalbyn Race 3 @ 2:35pm

Off the low draw Merva should have enough speed to lead a genuine tempo. MERVA (13) has disappointed the two runs back but didn't have much luck at Gawler the latest and the effort stacks up. Gets a number of gear changes again suggesting she's a work in progress but fitter is likely to prove too good. KILLER BLONDE (12) resumes and has switched to the in-form Stokes yard and didn't have much luck on debut at Moe on the heavy. Gets the outside gate but respect the filly if the betting suggests she can win. ANJAH (1) has just missed the last three at Port Lincoln and is an in-pacer drawn to advantage. Finds a bit harder but can't be discounted. LYRICKIN'S DREAM (6) came from the back to miss a lip here 11 days ago surprising the market. Has had 27 tries to break through but isn't out of it on that run. SELECTION: # 13 Merva should be winning for the hot McEvoy-Vorster linkage.

Geraldton Race 7 @ 8:00pm

Admiral Husson, Kenyluck and Wildonbrook can set a decent tempo. ANGRY ANNIE (1) has won the last two and keep getting better. Runs along and drops back from a 70 with the claim helping in the weight department. She can win again over the short sprint. BITOVEMU (10) presented third-up and deserved the CL2 win. That stacks right up but she always needs a good ride. KENYLUCK (7) led and won the 58 first-up and three-back was an easy winner at CL5 level. Would go close with a repeat of that and is drawn to ride the speed. WILDONBROOK (9) just missed resuming behind the above and is improved. Is in light with the claim and can't be ruled out pushing forward. SELECTION: Sticking with #1 Angry Annie in a good contest.
