Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on December 8
Three TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Tuesday at Ballina, Dubbo & Ararat.
Ararat: Race 8 @ 5:00pm
Solid tempo with several sitting handy and Irish Delight finding the lead. HUGHES THE BOSS (3) has just been beaten at the provincials the three runs back and keeps improving. He shows promise and should find cover and present at the right time. Comes back in grade and can deliver reaching peak fitness. HIGH TORQUE (8) resumes and is better than the formline suggests. Is good enough and expect him to be forward and to use the low draw to advantage. CHERONKOH (10) pulled up with an issue the latest in much stronger. The Ballarat near-miss prior at this trip reads well and keep her safe. HIGH TORQUE (8) resumes from the low gate with a number of gear changes. He's capable and keep onside. SELECTIONS: Expecting #3 Hughes The Boss to have an edge.

Ballina: Race 4 @ 3:45pm
Solid tempo with Mount Heidi likely to lead. JUDDER (5) went to the front a fair way from home then kept going for a dominant win over 1410m at this track last start. Progressive filly stepping up to the mile for the first time. Should be camped right on the speed and looks the one to beat. PRINCE OF ARRAN (4) showed good early speed from the inside draw last time and kept finding to finish third when resuming over 1526m at Lismore. Not a prolific winner but has a good record at this distance, with a win and five placings from 10 starts. Fitter and right in this. UNLEASH THE RED (6) was ridden more aggressively last start and boxed on well for third, beaten 2 lengths, at Grafton over 1410m. Cherry-ripe at the third run back and the step up in trip looks timely. MOUNT HEIDI (2) showed pace but tired to be beaten 3 lengths into eighth last time at Coffs Harbour over 1400m. Likely to push forward again and with less pressure up front can run a cheeky race. SELECTIONS: #5 Judder on top in a good contest.
Dubbo: Race 5 @ 4:40pm
Birdonawinningpost and Urus will battled for early honours. BIRDONAWINNINGPOST (7) was game in defeat when second last start at Newcastle over 1350m, leading until the concluding stages. Will find this a little easier than last time and with a cosy run on the speed will prove very tough to reel in. URUS (6) has been runner-up at his last three, most recently when second at Narromine over 1600m after making play for much of the race. Back in trip but has good natural speed - expected to be right in this. FEGAN OF DUNDEE (2) hit the line nicely last time to finish second, albeit beaten 4 lengths, over this journey at Narromine. Progressing nicely and looks a sound each-way chance. MANADRIA (4) raced up on the pace and dug deep to be beaten just 0.7 lengths into third over 1280m at Orange recently. Cherry-ripe after four runs back and is sure to be thereabouts again. SELECTIONS: #7 Birdonawinningpost is in an easier maiden today and can open the account.
