BATHURST: RACE 4 @ 3:30PM

Soldier's Desire is likely to get her own way in front. SOLDIER'S DESIRE (13) sat on the speed and held on well to finish a long neck away in second over 1300m at Hawkesbury last start. Fitter for two runs back from a spell. Looks very hard to toss dropping back to a country maiden. C'MON REG (5) has been to the races twice. Got a long way back at Kembla last time over 1300m and made only minor headway. Back in a much easier maiden today and the blinkers go on so watch for sharp improvement. MANDALONG BEYOND (10) was strong late when runner up over 1500m at Hawkesbury recently. Cherry-ripe after three runs back and in this company poses a genuine threat. NARRATED (11) is a debutante for the Maher/Eustace establishment. Trial form not flash but respect the stable. SELECTIONS: #13 Soldier's Desire can dictate and looks very hard to beat.

SCONE: RACE 5 @ 3:50PM
From The Hip finds the front and a few pressuring. WHATSIN (3) resumed much improved winning the Maiden comfortably and then was just beaten in the country as favourite. Draws well today and he can bounce for the strong yard with Bullock sticking. MISS KOJIKI (9) was back to her best winning the Taree Maiden and that should stack up. Was heavily-bet again but needs a good ride crossing over from the wide gate. BIRDONAWINNINGPOST (6) is also a last start Maiden winner heavily-bet and should find the speed. Another with good upside. FROM THE HIP (5) led and won the Maiden comfortably as expected and can go on from that. Draws low and Penza replaces the apprentice. SELECTIONS: A tricky program with plenty of scratchings. #3 Whatsin should be winning Race 5.
