Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on January 7
Four TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Thursday at Muswellbrook, Wagga, Geelong & Doomben.
DOOMBEN: RACE 5
TORRENS (2) raced away for an emphatic 4L win at Eagle Farm last time out. He's building an impressive CV under his trainer Ethan Ensby. Switches across the road to Doomben, a track that isn't his favourite however on exposed credentials it's hard to shy away from him. Dittman has a good affinity and they can make it back to back wins. THATFRIDAYFEELING (8) is a horse on the up. Narrowly denied three on the trot when placed at the Sunshine Coast last start. Quickly up to 2200m is a query but he has a special knack of sticking his head out. URBINO (6) is always thereabouts. Struggles to win often but was good over this trip last start. Will have admirers. ROMAKASH (1) and CLASS OF ROYALTY (7) for the multiples. SELECTIONS: Torrens to win again.

GEELONG: RACE 6
MNEMBA (4) couldn't have been more impressive easily winning the Maiden off a lengthy spell. She's been freshened and the on-pacer won't have to improve much to take this out. UNO VELOCE (3) was fitter and better at Stony Creek in stronger grade and won her only third-up start. Gets a soft run from the rail and is a definite player. ALMIGHTY WILL (2) made the placings at Echuca running an equal favorite and has more to give. Gets the blinkers again and the switch to Walker. TIME FORD (1) is a veteran with a 4kg claim and he won't be far away building on the first-up placing. SELECTIONS: Backing Mnemba.
MUSWELLBROOK: RACE 4
STILL IN FASHION (6) has filled a place at only two runs that he's been sighted in, both on home track. Looks to have nice ability and forward showing expected. BAXTER (4) made some nice ground on debut and shapes as though the extra ground here will be beneficial. Looks well placed and expected to go close. RIGHT BOWER (3) has performed creditably in three runs this campaign. The rise in distance suits and forward showing on the cards. MEDICIAN MISS (13) is a former Victorian that performed solidly at first outing for new stable at Armidale. Will be improved by that outing and should not be discounted here. SELECTIONS: Something on Still In Fashion.
WAGGA: RACE 7
MANDALONG NICKO (1) finds a nice race. Both runs back have been strong at Canberra. Had strong backing last start but a good effort from a Snowden trained galloper was able to spoil the party. Fitness peaks today and with the claim for Hennessy he has plenty in his favor. TORSITON (5) was just beaten here a fortnight ago. She's got a nice record with Nisbet and demands more market respect this afternoon. Should get a nice run throughout. ALAN (3) won well at the Sapphire Coast on resumption. On the up and should be respected. Was $5 last start and surely hasn't gone backwards since then. Looks nice value. CHERRY PIE (11) and SHADOW COMPANY (2) best of the remainder. SELECTIONS: Mandalong Nicko for the win.
