Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on January 14

Seven TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Thursday at Gunnedah, Moruya, Ararat, Pakenham, Eagle Farm, Pinjarra & Penola. 

LORD DESANIMAUX (3) was superb in defeat here last week. He was deep throughout and had to make a sustained run at them, going under by 0.5L. He generally saves his best efforts for Moruya. The step to 1660m third-up looks perfect. Will be hard to hold out at each-way odds. SIR EAGLE (5) was fourth in that same race. He's drawn out again but has the right man in the saddle. Gives the impression this distance will suit. CLEM FANDANGO (1) has the scalp of Riverstock this campaign but his runs either side of that have been disappointing. Lost sight of the bunny when 2000m back to 1660m last start at Wagga when a short favourite. HOT BAHAMA (2) and SHAMMOS (4) best of the remainder. SELECTIONS: Lord Desanimaux each-way.

EAGLE FARM: RACE 6

LOT'S WIFE (9) came back to racing further improved winning a strong form race at the Gold Coast and then wasn't beaten far this grade at Doomben. He will ride the speed from the rail and fitter rates to win in this line-up. MITTA MARY (6) led and won the Doomben mile by a space this level. That stacks right up and back to a sprint shouldn't bother. SAMURAI (3) has missed a lip the two runs back and keeps improving. Finds a touch easier and is a player. EMMA'S JET (1) can build on the CL2 win. SELECTIONS: Backing Lot's Wife to win.

 ARARAT: RACE 7 

FLEURMOSA (5) has been going consistently and looks one of the better bets of the day. PAL'S REWARD (1) brings mixed form here but did win last start. This is competitive and should be thereabouts. INDISCRETION (6) does need to show more but in this field can be a trifecta chance at least. MELBOURNE HERO (10) could be the value runner and is at the right stage of the prep to win. GOODBUY (2) could be the value runner. Likes the trip and has been a winner here. Dip in form of late but can rein that in. Has to be included. SELECTIONS: Fleurmosa the win.

GUNNEDAH: RACE 7

IRON DOME (2) looks an impressive type. He's now with the Cody Morgan stable. He's had the four starts for two wins and two minor placings. Last seen finishing third at Eagle Farm in BM70 company. He's now a gelding. Clearly had issues being a six year old and so lightly-raced. Two years since he last raced but expecting the stable to have him primed. BEDAZZLE (7) has a race fitness edge. Not beaten far at Newcastle last start. Stable going well and she looks a threat with even luck. MANADRIA (10) was a sharp winner last time out. Deserved that based on some consistent efforts prior. Pracey-Holmes knows him well. In the game. FARRANFORE (3) for the exotics. SELECTIONS: Hoping Iron Dome is ready.

Many od these struggling and making up the numbers but BUBBLERAP (4) is in form, lifting strongly to score narrowly last time out at Bordertown. Rises in weight but expected to go close. MOUNT MADEIRA (2) hit the line well when third last start at Gawler over 1505m. Expected to be doing best work late. HASTA LA BULLET (10) is on a eight day back-up and was in the money last start running third at Bordertown. Rarely far away and looks an each way hope. PELADERA (11) finished fifth last start, beaten 3.5 lengths at Naracoorte over 2000m. Don't underestimate. TAKSIM GIRL (16) improved a little finishing midfield last start at Naracoorte on a soft track. Worth including at odds. SELECTIONS: Keen to stick with Bubblerap.

PINJARRA: RACE 2

SPICY DANCER (3) missed a nose here following the solid debut. He has the speed to clear the sticky gate and rates to go one better with the extra fitness. BOSNIPP (9) looked in need of the run resuming for the new yard despite the trial win. He's right up to this at best and sharp improvement is likely. IT'S TIFF'S (8) is quick and will use the rail. Best to go on the lip defeat two-back and she should be in it for a long way. PETITE LA FEMME (6) did nothing resuming at Ascot and she has more to offer with that under the belt. SELECTIONS: Backing Spicy Dancer to win.

PAKENHAM: RACE 3

PACIFIC RIM (7) had a lot of excuses at Werribee last start which was still an improved run on the outing before. Could be one of the better bets of the day from a strong stable. ANGELIC AMOUR (2) got crowded for rim at Mornington earlier this month. With a kinder run today has to be in the finish. THE NELLA MARIS (11) comes out of the same race as Angelic Armour and ran really well at big odds. Has to be rated well in this. YULONG SHOUT (9) could also be a value runner with the right passage. Steps up in trip which is a plus. BONAMASSA (3) has had a month between runs after placing at good odds at Warrnambool. Exotics chance at least. SELECTIONS: Pacific Rim the win.
