Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for January 18.
Muswellbrook: Race 8 @ 5:40pm
WAAFIYA (11) is a promising city-trained filly resuming off the deserved Scone Maiden win. She's sure to to come back improved and has looked sharp in the two city trials. Draws for a soft on-pace run and no surprise if she's got these covered. TINKA'S LAD (5) won the Scone Maiden by a space and then missed less than a length this grade at Wyong. Has never raced on better than slow but rates strongly and is feared. BILBAO (3) led and was an easy Taree Maiden winner 7-days ago getting back to form. Uses the rail and won't be far away. Even most of the rest. SELECTION: With Waafiya if the late market reflects stable confidence.

Queanbeyan: Race 5 @ 4pm
ARABISC (1) can control the race from the rail and just-missed for the new yard resuming at Canberra. The former VIC galloper made a ratings spike in that and won't have to improve much to take this out. DISCONCERTED (2) was heavily-bet first-up winning the Maiden by a big space and then didn't get into it on the slow at Moruya. Gets a low gate today and the leading hoop and fitter can bounce for the local barn. THE DIGGINGS (6) capped a good run of form winning at Tumut. Don't discount that effort and expect him to be a player with the handy 2kg claim. IN MY WALLET (3) was tracking okay before the plain run at Canberra. Will find this a bit easier and can run into the placings. SELECTION: Backing #1 Arabisc for the win.
