Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB thoroughbred meetings on January 17.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Sunshine Coast, Mount Barker, Cowra, Lismore and Wangaratta.
WANGARATTA: RACE 6 @ 4:15 PM
BOBBY ROCKS (10) wasn't far away in town last start at big odds and has to be respected here despite a wide draw. SAHAR (7) creates interest here first up for the prolific Payne/Egan combination and is worth including. RESERVE STREET (4) would go close on his best form and appeals each way.
SELECTIONS: Sticking with Bobby Rocks.
As a FREE Racing and Sports offer, below is the Wangaratta Computer Card.
COWRA: RACE 1 @ 1:05 PM
MANDALONG ROMAN (1) looks to have a bit on these with the weight being the only query. Put two wins together at Gosford before heading to town and beaten only 3 lengths. ALPHA GO (3) looks the main danger and won second-up in his first preparation. Has had a five week freshen up for this. CHOCCY GAF (2) the only other winner in the race but two runs this time in have been disappointing. A watch on LEMAIRE (4) with TWENTYEIGHTDRAGONS (7) best of the rest.
SELECTIONS: Mandalong Roman to win. Quinella 1 and 3.
LISMORE: RACE 6 @ 3:45 PM
KIRRA LASS (2) looks suited dropping in grade. Gave a good sight at Ipswich last start in BM60 level. She's very speedy and should appreciate getting up in trip. Has plenty of things in her corner and rates a strong winning chance making her own luck. SNIPERESS (3) resumes from a spell. She lost her way towards the back end of the preparation. Fresh record is solid and she's right in this on best form. GREAT MARLOW (1) second-up can improve. Was very consistent last campaign.
SELECTIONS: Keen on the chances of Kirra Lass.
MT BARKER: RACE 4 @ 2:40 PM
SECRET ASSAULT (2) has just been beaten the three runs back with the latest at Pinjarra in much better class. He will use the rail and the claim is handy. Suited and is the one to beat. KENNEDY (1) resumed in the same race and was in need of it. He's won twice second-up and has strong city figures in the CV. Fitter and the danger. JENJA (7) was badly in need of the run resuming at Bunbury. Gets the blinkers again and is capable of quick improvement. WORZEL (4) is better than the last two runs suggest and may be next best.
SELECTIONS: Going with Secret Assault.
SUNSHINE COAST: RACE 5 @ 2:35 PM
VALARIO (4) was an impressive winner last start at Eagle Farm, overpowering Socialising. Deserved that based on some consistent efforts prior. Back to 1000m and should take plenty of holding out in the run home. Impressive record at this venue. KING KLAUS (9) has won five from eight with three minors. Led and was too speedy here most recently as an odds-on favourite. This is a step up but she's all class and should give plenty of cheek on the speed. GYPSY TOFF (5) was down the track at the Gold Coast last weekend. She's an eleven time winner and can show improvement back to this level. SISTER KITTY MAC (10) for the exotics.
SELECTIONS: Valario for the win.
