Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB thoroughbred meetings on February 1.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Newcastle, Dubbo and Donald.
NEWCASTLE: RACE 5 @ 4:15 PM
OKUDAH (5) won at Scone on debut and was immediately spelled. Has prepared for the resumption with four trials and won the latest at Gosford. Ford sticks from that and the gelding will have come on and looks ready to go. DEVIL'S CHOICE (9) won the CL1 here and has been plain in the country as favourite the last two on heavy tracks. Back home and on an improved surface he's a serious player. HEREDERO (8) returned in good order and has more up the sleeve. Goes well second-up and gets the low barrier and 2kg claim. ASHRA JAHRE (10) reaches peak fitness for a smart city yard and didn't miss by far from the front at Wyong 12 days ago. Will push forward and is also a decent chance.
SELECTIONS: With Okudah if the late money comes.

DUBBO: RACE 3 @ 3:20 PM
ZOO STATION (10) placed twice and then delivered the Wellington Maiden at her third race start. That stacks right up for this and no surprise is she goes right on with it with the extra fitness. SOUTHERN CLOUD (8) was close-up the latest this trip and keeps improving. Should have the pace to manage the wide gate and can make the finish if she does. TARIFF TRUMP (9) had been busting to win and delivered the Maiden at Tamworth. Will push forward and is a chance first go at the mile. UNRESTRICTED (11) led and just missed in the same Maiden and will be in it a long way with an economical cross from the wide gate.
SELECTIONS: Backing Zoo Station.
DONALD: RACE 5 @ 3:30 PM
HEAVENLEY BODIED (1) ran well last start when third at Ararat over 1100m, winding up strongly late. Fitter and rates a top chance out in journey. GOOD DAYS (6) was in the money last start when third at Kilmore over 1200m and should be at peak now. Looks overdue and appeals as a leading player. TERERAS (5) will be rock-hard fit now following a nice effort at Ararat last start when fifth. Worth plenty of thought. WURLIES LASTCHANCE (3) finished sixth last start, beaten 4 lengths at Naracoorte over 1430m. Makes each-way appeal. BUT BEAUTIFUL (4) scored her maiden win last time out at Penola and can run well again.
SELECTIONS: The extra trip suits Heavenly Bodied.
