Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on January 31.

Major Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings today are held at Sale, Sapphire Coast, Murwillumbah, Gatton, Strathalbyn and Bunbury.

Perfect World (11) looks well placed to break through here resuming from a spell. She finished close up in the Oaks Trial to end last preparation after three second placings, all in town behind some handy types such as Divine Diosa and Succeed Indeed. She looks the one to beat. KLATTEN (8) resumes here having placed over this trip on debut. She appeals on an each way basis fresh. OL' DOLLOR (10) improved sharply last start to just miss stepping up to this distance. Respect. HEREFORAGOODTIME (7) was thereabouts on debut prior to spell and is capable of figuring here with natural improvement. DON'T RUSH RUBY (5) creates interest on debut and is worth including. SELECTIONS: Perfect World is the best for the day at even money or better.

Sale Computer Card - January 31 

Looks an ideal race for Grand Lusitano (1) to break through here following two handy placings in his first campaign. Rails draw a plus and Nisbet has been onboard for both previous outings. Will be leading for a long way. SERB ALERT (14) has had plenty of chances but has been in career best form this time in. The most experienced horse in the field and drawn to get a soft run behind them. BEANS (9) was much better first-up and can improve again. MERC (8) has placed twice over this distance and BLOOD TIES (6) looks the best of the first-starters. SELECTIONS: Grand Lusitano to win.

Boreas (4) returned from a short break with an excellent effort in same grade at the Sunshine Coast. Is going to strip fitter this time and the extra ground will be a plus. Expected to prove tough to hold out. PERSIAN KING (3) has won two of past three starts and did win nicely here last time leading throughout. Up in trip but will be in this for a long way. BUZZER BEATER (2) strolled in at Warwick last time as favourite. Found form now and might now be able to go on with it so is worth considering. PHANTOM COURT (7) has won two of last three and was on the speed throughout when successful last time. This looks her optimum trip and has to be respected. SELECTIONS: Back Boreas.

This looks a suitable race for Mysterious Lady (7) to finally break through. Has finished in the top four at nine of her 12 starts and is getting up to the right distance range now. Can handle Good to Heavy going and look for her to be right in the finish. STRETCHING (10) was a handy second over this track and trip last time out with the same jockey onboard. Looks the main danger. QUIZZICAL DEEL (5) was much improved last run and has placed over this distance. ELLASTRA (9) has been in the placings at her last two and can figure again. MISS PIERPOINT (6) has had plenty of chances but is one for the multiples. SELECTIONS: Mysterious Lady to win.

Gatsby's Girl (3) was well backed and looked a good thing beaten at Penola when she missed a run before charging late. She draws out but Todd Pannell takes the ride and she will get her chance. CASSANDRA ISABEL (4) was solid in betting and boxed on well at Oakbank first-up from a break. Her jump out before her return was excellent and she’s a big danger. SHOWUSYOURMOTOR (5) was an eye-catching effort here last time and should be suited in the small field. ELECTRUM (2) has been placed at two of six starts here on her home track. SELECTIONS: Gatsby's Girl to win.

Magical Dream (2) took on listed company second-up last time and does the same again today. Went so well first-up and is a big show to do it again today. SOLAIA (6) is in good form as well especially at Ascot. Has to be the main danger. NO SURRENDER (1) placed at Ascot in similar company in December and then went one better earlier this month. Right in it too. HOT MIX (7) has excuses behind Magical Dream last start and with luck can be a place chance at least. HOT ZED (4) steps up to 1400 metres and can win second-up here. Has to go in trifectas at least. SELECTIONS: Magical Dream the win.
