Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for February 7.
BALLARAT: RACE 4 @ 3:10 PM
IRONEDGE (3) has a touch of class having been placed at Listed level as a 2YO over this trip. He just missed in Maiden grade when first up last campaign before being competitive in stakes races behind Crosshaven and Glenfiddich. He's the one to beat here with the Blinkers going on. PAL D'ORO (5) creates interest first up having placed at both career starts to date including last start behind Embolism. He can figure with natural improvement and the Blinkers on TESORINA (12) stuck to her task well last start when second and is capable of further improvement here third up. SIMPKIN (6) ran an even race on debut in town and is worth including in the multiples. IN HOT WATER (8) is honest and is capable of running into a minor placing. SELECTIONS: Ironedge is the best for the day.

SUNSHINE COAST: RACE 2 @ 1:40 PM
BRAZEN BRECCIA (1) just missed at Eagle Farm getting close to his Victorian best. Gets a soft run from the rail and should be breaking through at the mile for the hot trainer-jockey linkage. SETHLANS (2) presents at peak fitness off three near-misses. The mile will suit him. The danger. CARTIAIR (7) was much better the latest and is in the mix with the extra fitness. COULOMB (3) finally gets a low gate and has upside. SELECTIONS: Keen on Brazen Breccia.
PORT MACQUARIE: RACE 2 @ 2:15 PM
ENDANGERED SPECIES (2) has done everything but win at his first two starts and strikes a winnable race here. Grisedale has been on board for both seconds to date and is drawn to get the run of the race. The one to run down. ZARU (1) is another who is unlucky not have broken through running second four times out of seven starts. Has placed at the distance and on all going. The main danger. EM EM D'AR (7) has only finished out of the top five once in 11 starts and has placed at this track. Former Victorian having his third start for the new stable and can figure. EMPORIA (4) was a handy third on debut and can improve further. POET'S PROPHECY (5) wasn't far away in a recent trial and may show up on debut. SELECTIONS: Endangered Species to win.
ARARAT: RACE 3 @ 2:45 PM
VAN D'ORO (14) has been good both runs back and is ready to win for a leading yard. Just tired late the latest at Kilmore. CREMANT (10) is second-up and also presents as a winning hope. Will find this easier than Sandown and has more up the sleeve. COMANO (2) led and placed at Geelong. Draws well and should get every chance to run out the longer sprint. ATOMIC TEXIE (1) trialled well and was much to good for the Bordertown Maidens first-up. Finds better but can't be ruled out with a well-managed ride from the sticky gate. SELECTIONS: Like Van D'Oro.
GOULBURN: RACE 3 @ 3:05 PM
NEVER SECOND (2) was an impressive winner on debut at Gosford. Has been tuned up for this with a nice trial win at Rosehill. Looks to have plenty of upside and is the one to beat from the inside alley. GIFTGIVER (1) has had a win and two seconds from three starts this campaign and looms as the main danger. Has placed at this track and Spriggs has had two rides for a win and a second. STAR DYNASTY (4) was a narrow winner last start over this trip and has the in-form McDougall in the saddle. CINDERELLA (3) has been thereabouts two runs for the new stable and can feature again. MO MORE CHICKEN (7) has placed at this track and trip and can run a place. SELECTIONS: Never Second to win.
NARACOORTE: RACE 7 @ 4:40 PM (AEDT)
VON COSTA GLASS (1) races well here on his home track with two wins and two placings from five starts and he was impressive at Murray Bridge before getting home strongly from a long way back last time. DYAGILEV (2) is two from four here and raced on speed and was too sharp for Von Costa Glass last time. VON MYSTIC (7) has some talent and like getting back to 2000m. He finished off strongly behind I Am The Fox in the hanging Rock Cup last time. BRONSKI (4) won this race last year and he was OK behind Sebonna last time and hasn't missed a cheque in five starts here. CONNERMARA ROSE (5) turned her form around to win at Clare at big odds last time. SELECTIONS: Von Costa Glass to win.
ASCOT: RACE 6 @ 7:20 PM (AEDT)
BOMBARDMENT (3) runs along and the 3kg claimer can clear with sticky gate. He was just beaten in a CL5 at Bunbury before the big win in the 46. Wasn't far away here the latest in the CL3 and can deliver today win with average luck in the run. SAN CRISPINO (4) didn't miss by far here 15 days ago in stronger and Pike rides. He will use the low gate and the mare is suited. YOU AM I (2) had been tracking well before being outgraded here. Gets the very handy 3kg claim and can make the finish at this level. SAUCY JACK (1) is better than the formline says. He's been going around here in much better company and the 3kg claim brings him into it as well. SELECTIONS: Backing Bombardment.
