Major metropolitan meetings are today held at Randwick, Gosford, Flemington, Bendigo, Doomben, Gold Coast, Rockhampton, Morphettville, Ascot, Toowoomba and Coffs Harbour.

RANDWICK: RACE 9 @ 6:15 PM

Strong Benchmark 88 to round out proceedings. SUBEDAR (8) turned heads off a generous spell when closing into second behind All Time Legend at this course last month. Kept ticking over with a quiet Warwick Farm trial. Showed an abundance of promise as a three-year-old, with multiple strong performances at stakes level. Looks ready to make up for lost time however has struck a deep event. ACADEMY (3) resumed with a solid second behind Tailleur at Rosehill last month. Watch to see if the form gets a push through the winner contesting the Triscay Stakes earlier in the program. THY KINGDOM COME (1) drops in grade after placing in the Carrington Stakes. POETIC CHARMER (2) has been finding the line well in three runs this prep. James McDonald a key booking. BUCHAREST (12) resumes. Wrapped up his maiden campaign with a Group 1 placing in the Spring Champion Stakes. Bred to be above average.
SELECTIONS: Straight out Subedar.

FLEMINGTON: RACE 8 @ 4:45 PM

Terrific clash between the last two VRC Classic winners BIVOUAC (2) and NATURE STRIP (1) and they haven't just won those Classics they have blown them away in world class style. Bivouac is the one with the most recent form with Nature Strip failing to fire in the spring but there is not much between them at their best and Nature Strip's trials in the lead up have been fairly ominous. SEPTEMBER RUN (7) is going to get a hot pace to run at and she was terrific in the spring. Whole other level here of course but not dismissing her lightly. FABERGINO (6) and PIPPIE (5) are both fast and can set things up but it would be a surprise if the big guns didn't come to the fore late on.
SELECTIONS: Backing Nature Strip to recapture his best.

ASCOT: RACE 7 @ 3:55 PM

CAROCAPO (1) has been bold in stakes company at his last three and in the absence of some smart ones he might have his chance. Will track the speed and take holding off late. SARACINO (5) hit the line well into third at his second run back and a repeat effort in this will see him go close. LOCKROY (4) wasn't disgraced coming from last in the Scenic Blast against similar company and has some upside. Each-way. MERVYN (6) can give a sight and PLATOON (2) could surprise.
SELECTIONS: Carocapo to win. Trifecta 1-2,4,5,6/2,4,5,6.

DOOMBEN: RACE 1 @ 12:22 PM

LEADERSHIP SPILL (6) was racing in very consistent fashion prior to a spell with a string of wins and placings. Both of his career wins have come when fresh and at this distance so expect him to be wound right up. OH FIVE GLORY (11) has been solid in three runs this time in, the latest when fourth at this track. Drops to this trip for the first time this campaign and it suits as her record at the distance is sound. Has a winning profile. CHICO MILAGRO (1) went to the paddock a winner, scoring over 1200m at this course and returns from a five month break. Has trialled so can make his presence felt fresh. ACUMEN (4) gave a sight when leading to finish third fresh at Gold Coast. Can progress. HIDDEN EYES (2) beat Acumen to win last start so is worth including.
SELECTIONS: Leadership Spill to make a winning return.

MORPHETTVILLE PARKS: RACE 3 @ 1:46 PM

HAURAKI GULF (3) was very honest his first run at Moonee Valley. The swoopers got home but he was not beaten all that far. This is a better assignment as long as there are no sleepers in it. HANABI (10) could easily be that horse. She easily won a trial for a leading stable. The betting on her will speak for itself. BOLSONARO (8) ran into a decent one last year. She will have benefitted from the break and experience. KNIGHTSTOWN (4) has the trial confidence of a win.
SELECTIONS: The raced Hauraki Gulf versus the newcomer Hanabi.

BENDIGO: RACE 8 @ 5:36 PM

BILLET DOUX (2) won last start and looks like it can go on with it. Gets a big tick over the mile. GUNSABLAZIN' (5) kept on well enough in similar company last start at Geelong. Has city form and should be right in this. BEDIVERE (1) isn't quite a winning chance but could sneak a placing on ability shown. Forget RIP CITY (7) went around last week at Yarra Valley. The quick follow-up is a good guide. STORM'S COLOURS (3) just needs to be steadier when the pressure is on to be a winning chance but can fill a placing.
SELECTIONS: Billet Doux the win.

COFFS HARBOUR: RACE 1 @ 1:00 PM

WILD WIND (1) is an ex Hawkes Racing-trained galloper lining up for new stable. Did show some ability in city grade maidens before stable transfer. Rates strongly here and expected to give a sight. SEACZAR (2) is a Zariz entire out of Lovely Lunacy on debut. Impressive recent trial winner and a bold showing is expected on that effort. GOLDEN FANTASY (5) started favourite on debut and battled on OK after leading. Resumes and is back in trip here. Rates as an each-way chance. POLLARD (12) has been slightly disappointing at past couple but looks well placed over the short course here and is worth including among the chances.
SELECTIONS: Back Wild Wind.
