Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB thoroughbred meetings on February 17.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Randwick-Kensington, Strathalbyn, Bunbury, Ipswich and Sandown-Hillside.
RANDWICK KENSINGTON: RACE 4 @ 4:05 PM
SNITZIFY (3) has been a model of consistency this campaign with a win and two seconds from four starts. Was a handy second over this track and trip last time out and will be at peak fitness fifth-up. Drawn perfectly for Bowman in gate one and is the one to beat. GRENADO (8) finally broke through last start after four runs this time in. Drawn well for McDonald and can go on with it now. SAFFIANO (2) has been good in three runs for the new stable with a win and a second. Has won two from four over the distance and gets 2kg off. Must include. HOLY REIGN (1) has run three seconds from four first up efforts and also gets 2kg weight relief. MUNICH (6) has placed three from three at the distance and can be in the mix again.
SELECTIONS: Snitzify to win.
As a FREE Racing and Sports offer, below is the Randwick-Kensington Computer Card.
STRATHALBYN: RACE 5 @ 3:25 PM
MOUNT MADEIRA (1) looks ideally suited getting out to 2050m. He finished off well in the Strathalbyn Cup last time and his previous at Murray Bridge is a strong pointer for this. MASTER OF ZERPRISE (2) is a winner this track and trip and was game behind Hobo Bob last timeout. He should be handy from a good barrier and looks a major threat. CHALLICUM (3) got back and finished off hard behind Bossy Britches at Naracoorte and is always thereabouts in this sort of grade. IGITUR (5) has a great record with four wins from nine starts this track and trip and he ran on well in the Strathalbyn Cup last time. EXALTED BEAST (7) was a good winner at Clare back in grade before racing on speed and sticking on well behind Hobo Bob last time at Murray Bridge. He'll make his own luck from a handy gate.
SELECTIONS: Mount Madeira each-way.
BUNBURY: RACE 5 @ 3:34 PM
UNIVERSAL PLEASURE (3) is going really well at the moment and is a winner here as well. Form around it from recent racing reads well, too. Looks like one of the better chances of the day. TREVELLO (2) debuts in WA after a career so far in QLD. On ability can show up here. APPROACH (1) has had one run and on form can go well second-up. Place chance at least. ME 'N' TAZ (4) goes well over the trip but first-up might find a few sharper. Has to be included in trifectas. GREAT CHARADE (6) is a wider first four chance also first-up.
SELECTIONS: Universal Pleasure the win.
IPSWICH: RACE 6 @ 5:10 PM
TERRAJOHNA (5) has won two of the last three and he made a ratings spike winning at Gatton the latest up to the mile. He can push forward and find an on-pace slot and a repeat win is on the cards. SHADYVALE STAR (2) has been around the mark without saluting and won't be far away running up to his best. BELLICOSE (3) has been knocking on the door and has the speed to manage the wide gate. He will be hard to peg back. FORT MYER (10) is back to a sprint off an improved effort and may be next best.
SELECTIONS: Backing Terrajohna each way.
SANDOWN-HILLSIDE: RACE 7 @ 7:00 PM
TARCOOLA DIVA (10) was heavily-bet and much too good first up at Sale at 58 level. She presented off two starts at Group 3 level and is further improved. She races handy and has a sharp second-up record. Gets plenty of weight relief and is the one to beat. MODEAR (3) missed a nose at Flemington this level (heavy track) and it was a huge effort after a slow start. Almost as good on a dry track prior and gets the handy 3kg claim today. She's feared. QUESADILLA (8) was equal favourite and didn't have any luck here behind Heka Express. The Valley run prior stacks up and the 2kg claim brings her into it. BONS ABROAD (4) resumes off two Group 3s and has won 1/3 fresh. May need one, but is very capable and worth a betting watch.
SELECTIONS: Will look to play both Tarcoola Diva and Modear and stand in exotics.
