Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB thoroughbred meetings on March 17.

Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at  Randwick Kensington, Sandown Lakeside, Doomben, Ascot, Balaklava, Canberra and Launceston.

RANDWICK KENSINGTON: RACE 8 @ 5:50 PM

NAJMAH (3) has two wins and a second from three career starts to date and looks hard to beat here. Has a win and a second from two attempts at the distance and gets the services of Berry. Should go close. ALL HALLOWS' EVE (12) is a winner of two from four and has won over the journey. INVINCIBLE KISS (5) is in career best form and gets 3kg off with the claim. Definite chance. PHILIZZY (2) has won at this track and drawn well in gate two. IRISH ANGEL (15) has placed four of her last five and can be in the frame again. SELECTIONS: Najmah to win.

SANDOWN-LAKESIDE: RACE 2 @ 3:40 PM

Competitive race. NIGHTFIRE (6) won last start in convincing fashion. Goes up 200 metres and the form out of that last race has delivered. LITCHFIELD COUNTY (5) has kicked off its career quite nicely. Showed improvement in it's manners to win last start at Werribee and although it is sometimes difficult to follow-up next start, this is very winnable. BABY BOOMER (1) makes its Melbourne debut and not discounting it out of a smart stable. CURRAN (2) had the race won last start here but for the fast finishing And Beyond. HELLOVA NIGHT (3) has been gelded since we last saw him. Won his maiden in October at Tatura and went ok in a recent trial. Worth including.
SELECTIONS: Nightfire straight out.

DOOMBEN: RACE 7 @ 4:36 PM

CHAMPAGNE TOOTS (7) resumed further improved winning the CL3 easily on the Sunshine Coast slow. That reads strongly for this and she can repeat with the extra fitness. DARING BELLE (9) missed a lip here in the 70 and then came back and delivered in the CL1 on the heavy. That stacks right up and the 3kg claim again brings her right into it. LOVE YERS ALL (8) has won and placed the last two and gets a soft run from the handy gate. She's capable of making the finish. EMMA'S JET (2) has been knocking on the door for the Dunn yard and the blinkers come off. He can't be ruled out.

ASCOT: RACE 6 @ 4:45 PM

TUMIVET (4) couldn't do any more than win on debut here over 1500m a fortnight ago. Just straight up to 1800m which could be a test but not willing to discount. TICK ALONG (2) just found one better very late last start. WARCIDIUM (5) made up for being held-up two runs back by winning at Pinjarra last start. Wet ground will really help its chances. WINSALOT (9) didn't have an easy run last start and still went really well at good odds. Can do so again today and can't be left out. TRISUEM (8) broke the maiden last start. Out of that grade now just needs to settle better to be a winning chance again. Include in exotics.
SELECTIONS: Tumivet the win and a saver on Winsalot each-way.

BALAKLAVA: RACE 1 @ 1:40 PM

GAZE GRISE (10) showed promise in her first campaign and was impressive winning an Oakbank trial. IN good hands and hard to beat. SEA WITNESS (4) was placed at three on end the latest at Morphettville in November behind Naleigh. He jumped favourite last start behind My Golden Chain. SELF SUFFICIENT (5) has shown ability. He was placed behind Great Diviner two starts back and wasn't far away at Murray Bridge last time. GATSBY'S GIRL (8) has had a few chances. She was sent out a $1.30 fav when placed behind Shopster at Gawler last start. SAINT OLGA (11) ran super at big odds behind Divenire last time out.
SELECTIONS: Gaze Grise to break through first-up.

CANBERRA: RACE 5 @ 4:19 PM

SEPORTO (4) made sharp improvement placing at Goulburn and then didn't really have the best of it at Wyong. Comes south with McDougall booked and will be well-positioned from the low gate. He gets his chance. GARROS (2) had been around the mark in better grade than this before the lip defeat back to the mile. He's rock-hard fit and is a player. LARMOUR (3) was much better up in trip at Cowra and peaks for this. He has to be considered along with WHISKEY JACK (1) who was outgraded in the Canberra Cup for the new yard, but brought solid provincial efforts to that. CONFIDENT LAD (6) will run along and won't be far away.
SELECTIONS: Backing Seporto each way.
