Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on March 21.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings today are held at Ballarat, Orange, Bairnsdale, Bordertown and Bunbury.
BALLARAT: RACE 9 @ 5:08 PM
Zorro's Dream (7) hasn't missed a place at his past six starts or second up in two starts including a win. Yendall on from an ideal draw as well as some gear tinkering is the right formula to see him return to the winners stall. SHADOW GODDESS (4) has won both first up runs in the past including his last fresh run in this grade. The only query would be firm ground but he can go close with the Blinkers off. DAMASCUS MOMENT (2) got a confidence boosting win last start in lesser grade but her form prior was good enough to see her competitive in this race. ROSE OF SEBRING (13) creates plenty of interest here first up and should make her own luck on speed. HAYSTACKS CALHOUN (8) is lightly raced and progressing nicely. Don't take lightly despite the rise in grade. SELECTIONS: Zorro's Dream gets his chance to notch another win.

ORANGE: RACE 1 @ 1:25 PM
Looks an ideal race for Californian (8). Was a good third on debut at Kembla Grange when well in the betting. From a good barn and will take plenty of benefit from that race experience. The one to beat. KERRISDALE (9) has placed two of her past three and at this track. Drawn well in gate one and can be in the finish. SHINY AGENT (2) has placed four from six this campaign and will be rock-hard fit for this. In the mix. Former Victorian COLVILLE HOUSE (1) was an improved fourth last time out and has placed at the mile. TIMASTI (6) best of the rest in a race with a long tail. SELECTIONS: Californian to win.
BAIRNSDALE: RACE 3 @ 2:30 PM
Johnny Buccaneer (6) returned from a break with a solid placing at Stony Creek. Will be fitter for the outing and looks well placed here. Gets the chance to break through. DIVINE RULE (14) has had the two runs back from a spell and did a solid job filling a place last time. Looks well suited here and should be in this for a long way. TABBY STAR (8) worked home usefully last time and the rise in trip here is a plus. Consider. SELECTIONS: Back Johnny Buccaneer.
BORDERTOWN: RACE 2 @ 2:10 PM
Lancaster Sound (1) won two of his past three. He won at a Morphettville win back in November and resumed with a good win at Penola and looks hard to beat again despite the weight. WANDO BEL (3) has been runner-up his past couple, the latest behind Cool Magnum at Naracoorte. GAMBLER'S GIRL (2) has good ability and won two trials before being specked first-up in a strong race at Morphettville on Adelaide Cup Day. She must be respected in a race like this. AVID GENERAL (7) is lightly-raced and has ability. She chased home Rohlon Drunk at Naracoorte last time and is capable. FIRST REWARD (5) is lightly-raced and has ability. She chased home Rohlon Drunk at Naracoorte last time and is capable. SELECTIONS: Lancaster sound to be too good.
BUNBURY: RACE 7 @ 5:00 PM
MONTELENA (2) was beaten a length in the Detonator Stakes before being heavily-backed again beaten 1.8L into second in the Bunbury Cup at 2000m. Keeps the hot hoop and should have no trouble running out the extra 219m. Peaks now and gets his chance. PADDY'S SHADOW (1) comes out of the same races and won the Bunbury Cup making sharp improvement. He will get back from the rail again requiring a good ride but will be right in it holding that level of form. UTGARD LOKI (3) just missed the placing in the same contest and won't be far away using the low barrier. THE BIG SHOW (5) was okay in that race and reaches peak. He's in the mix finding his best. SELECTIONS: Backing Montelena who has upside.
