Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB thoroughbred meetings on March 31.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Warwick Farm, Sandown-Hillside, Doomben, Bunbury, Oakbank and Canberra.
WARWICK FARM: RACE 4 @ 3:20 PM
BLESK (6) was very unlucky not to salute last time out at Kensington when blocked for runs at a crucial stage in the straight. Drawn the inside gate here and will strip fitter third-up from the spell. The hardest to beat. HIGHMASTER (7) loves the mile with a win and a placing from two attempts. Has won second-up and is right in the mix. RELUCENT (1) has placed at this track and trip and gets 3kg off with the claim. COTERIE (3) best of the rest with 2kg weight relief.
SELECTIONS: Blesk to win.
As a FREE Racing and Sports offer, below is the Warwick Farm Computer Card.
SANDOWN-HILLSIDE: RACE 9 @ 6:30 PM
PINKHAM (14) resumed in the Group 3 beaten less than 2L and then led and was plain at Listed level. Fitter now and this suits much better. Draws to control the race and will take beating. THAT GIRL (11) disappointed the latest and best to go on the 1.7L defeat at Flemington when she rattled home as favourite. Gets the handy 2kg claim and expect a much better run. QUESADILLA (9) is an improver who has won and just-missed the last two. Draws for a soft run and is a genuine chance. MODEAR (6) also rates well off the string of placings and the handy 2kg claim brings her right into it.
SELECTIONS: Backing Pinkham.
DOOMBEN: RACE 6 @ 4:05 PM
AMICHE (7) bolted in last start and can't find too many reasons why it can't again today. Won second-up last prep as well and looks like one of the better bets of the day. SKINS (6) rounded off last prep with a won here over a slightly shorter trip. Has a good record over it as it does here. Looks the main danger. SAY HAYA (3) just needs to settle better than it did at the Gold Coast last start. Still won but can't afford to do that much wrong against a few of these. Place chance at least. SYD'S FOOTPRINTS (10) has the good gate but won't want any rain. Appeals as a trifecta chance. PIRACY (1) will find this harder than recent racing but could sneak a wider first four spot.
SELECTIONS: Amiche the win and quinella it with Skins and Say Haha.
OAKBANK: RACE 5 @ 3:20 PM
MY GOLDEN CHAIN (1) won a Strathalbyn maiden in November and has chased home Neodium at his past two. He gets out in trip and looks well placed here. TUFF CAT (2) has been placed at four of his past five and is back in trip here but nice drawn. SISTER DEE (5) ran well finished 3rd behind Master Of Zerprise at Murray Bridge two runs back and has been placed here on her home track. HENRY THE BRUCE (6) has good specking when 5th behind Air Time at Naracoorte last time. MISS HEDY (4) draws a gate and gets out in trip.
SELECTIONS: My Golden Chain to score.
CANBERRA: RACE 6 @ 4:57 PM
Very competitive. EMBELLER (6) just missed here second-up in stronger grade and has more up the sleeve. Gets McDougall first time and he would have had choices. Races handy and fitter the Sydney galloper will prove hard to beat. GENERAL DUBAI (2) resumes off a Randwick trial placing and has shown enough to suggest he can be very competitive. He has the speed to manage the sticky gate and the market will say if he's ready to go. MISS MAGNUM (8) peaks off the close-up effort at Gosford and draws to advantage. Keeps improving and is a player. ROCKETING TO WIN (4) will get a soft run from the low gate and has been flying for the new yard. He races well this track and consider with the weight relief. MANILA THRILLER (10) placed here the latest and took the eye late. In good local hands and put her in at a price.
SELECTIONS: Going with Embeller each way.
