Today’s Horse Racing Tips – 3rd April 2021

3 minute read

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for April 3.

Major metropolitan meetings are today held at Rosehill, Caufield, Eagle Farm,  Ascot and Oakbank

ROSEHILL: RACE 6 @ 3:55 PM

HARMONY ROSE (2) won well fresh at the mid-weeks before taking a good step forward in the Randwick Guineas last start when third behind Lion's Roar. That piece of form leaves her as the one to beat as she also looks to get all the favours on the map. HUNGRY HEART (3) returned to the winner's stall last start when too good late in the Phar Lap Stakes. Gets out beyond a mile for the first time and being by Frankel she should be even better. Drawn well and looms as a major threat. PERSONAL (1) just peaked late at Flemington last start when narrowly beaten. That run should top her off perfectly for this and McDonald jumps off Hungry Heart to ride. VRC Oaks winners have a great record in this event and she has to be respected. FORCE OF WILL (7) has won her last four straight in New Zealand and has to be kept safe in her Australian debut.
SELECTIONS: Very keen on Harmony Rose.

CAULFIELD: RACE 8 @ 4:55 PM

Hugely competitive but hard to see AGE OF CHIVALRY (4) not being right in the thick of the action. He was okay first up and will improve sharply now out to 1400m. Has some cracking efforts over the trip in the book and will relish the high pressure expected here. PRETTY BRAZEN (6) also looks nicely placed to peak second up. She was good fresh, beaten less than a length, and won the Let's Elope second up at 1400m in the spring. MORVADA (9) is extremely reliable in races like this and comes off a good win. MR QUICKIE (1) isn't so reliable but the talent is there. Barrier could make his task tough. MUNITIONS (14) could be an improver. Just fair in two this time around but promises to do better.
SELECTIONS: Age Of Chivalry in a deep contest.

EAGLE FARM: RACE 3 @ 1:07 PM

CLEARANCE SALE (8) showed good ability at the maiden campaign, highlighted by wins here and at Sunshine Coast. Last seen when placed in an open three year old race so is well placed in a benchmark 72 first up. Has trialled nicely twice and should be ready to go. DIXON BAY (2) continues to race well, following an all the way win here two back with a placing. Building a good record at this trip with two wins from four starts. Challenger. FIREBOX (6) made it back to back wins when scoring at Ipswich then finished in the placings last time at Gold Coast. Must respect that form. HIDDEN EYES (4) is working up to a win.
SELECTIONS: Clearance Sale to make a winning return.

ASCOT: RACE 9 @ 5:15 PM

WATCH ME DANCE (3) was excellent when resuming off a wide gate at 1200m two weeks ago and lands here from a favourable gate and up in trip. Group 2 winner last time in and hard to beat here. TYCOON STORM (6) resumed with a game win and with the inside alley will have every chance to repeat the dose. JERICHO MISSILE (5) has put two good runs together and has placed at this trip so with any luck he's in the mix. Nest best LUKE'S GOLD (2) and NOT TO BE MIST (7).
SELECTIONS: Watch Me Dance to win. Trifecta 3-2,5,6,7/2,5,6,7.

OAKBANK: RACE 9 @ 5:11 PM

BORN TO PLAY (12) strips fitter for one run back and draws to get a nice run in the race. She was a Murray Bridge winner two starts back and is sure to take some beating here. SKILLED BUNCH (6) has a good record and defeated a subsequent winner in Galcrum last time out. AMBIDAZZLE (9)was a Morphettville winner back in December and has each-way appeal from an OK barrier. MAGIC DEE (13) was an impressive winner back in class last time and should get a perfect run from barrier 2. AIGUILETTE (1) was good first-up from a spell and gets into this well on the back of a 3kg claim.
SELECTIONS: Born To Play to win.

DONGARA: RACE 6 @ 5:05 PM

SHACKLETON (1) has the winning combination with Jessica Gray together again after scoring over 1160m at Pingrup last time. Will carry more weight this time but best figures should see him run well. MASSA MAC (2) is back from a three months spell and does go well when fresh, including a win when resuming last campaign over 1100m at York. Major threat. STOCKYARD GOSSIP (4) is struggling to break through but hasn't been far away, the latest finishing fifth at Mingenew. Proven record of three placings with Lisa Staples staying aboard. Expected to be right around the mark. RED EPIC (5) is on a six day back-up after finishing sixth over 1200m at Geraldton. Fair record at this trip with a win and four minors and has to be included.
SELECTIONS: Very keen on Shackleton to go back to back.

KERANG: RACE 4 @ 3:28 PM

MONETIZING (7) looks like one of the better bets of the day. Goes really well first-up and has taken on harder company than this. THE MOBOT (1) kept on well enough at Sale after racing in Adelaide prior. Is up to this and a good quinella chance. RODDANDTODD (5) might be better suited here than the run at Kyneton. Has competed in better races than this and gone well. Has to be included. CALLIGRAPHER (3) is at the right stage of the prep to go well. Appeals as a trifecta hope. Forget that SMART DESIGN (6) went around at Flemington in January and can improve on the Albury run. Wider exotics chance.
SELECTIONS: Monetizing the win.

PORT MACQUARIE: RACE 1 @ 1:31 PM

EM EM D'AR (1) has been a model of consistency finishing in the top five at his past 11 starts. Goes well at this track with three placings and a fourth from four attempts and Spokes has had five steers for four placings. Would not begrudge him a victory here. MON AMORE (2) has placed five from ten starts and will be rock-hard fit for this. Looms as the key threat. UNWAVERING FAITH (4) was a much improved second last time out and can be in the mix. OLYMPIC TIME (3) is from a good yard and can earn a cheque. QUEEN OF WAR (9) best of the rest on the back of a last start second.
SELECTIONS: Em Em D'ar to win.

WARRACKNABEAL: RACE 4 @ 2:31 PM

TROLLEYED (1) had excuses at Warrnambool last start having to travel wider. It was a wet track too and that made the performance better. Looks a good chance. GAUCHO (2) finished well down the track at Colac. If it can lead then even better today. BELLATOR (7) will find this more suitable than the race at Colac. Was ok at Edenhope and that puts it in as a trifecta hope. FLIRTING WOLF (6) can make ground late and if they're running on then could be a wider hope. DOUREKN (8) needs to show more but comes in as a wider exotics chance if you're looking.
SELECTIONS: Trolleyed the win.

WARRACKNABEAL: RACE 5 @ 3:19 PM
MR MIDORI (1) has been a winning machine for the Lindsey Smith stable. Not willing to tip against it. PRIVATE LOUNGE (4) is at the right stage of the prep to win. Will find this a lot easier than the run at Sandown. Certainly likes the distance. THRILL KILL (8) broke the maiden in Adelaide on Boxing Day. Returns today and expect it to be well-placed. Could be the value runner, too.
SELECTIONS: Which one? Hard to go past Mr Midori.
