Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for May 21.

Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Cranbourne, Geelong, Coffs Harbour, Mackay and Canberra Acton.

CRANBOURNE: RACE 1 @ 5:30 PM

MIDWEST (3) showed promise at first campaign and bumped into a couple of handy ones in good maiden at Bendigo last time. Looks well placed in small field and should be tough to stop. COAXIAL (1) was specked at big odds and didn't do a bad job on debut at Werribee. Will be improved by the experience and has to be kept in mind. COMMANDS THE FIELD (6) is a daughter of Deep Field that has not been sighted at official trials but is sure to be well educated so will pay to watch market moves. SNOW DRAGON (5) was not disgraced at only run behind a couple of handy types. Worth keeping in mind fresh.
SELECTIONS: Back Midwest.

GEELONG: RACE 8 @ 4:30 PM

Can't knock the record of SANDSATION (11) too much and last start had to travel wide over 1400m so had excuses. Rates really well here to atone and gets a big tick over the trip. CAFE TORTONI (1) mad up for the first-up failure with a placing at Donald last start. Is on the up and the distance also suits. Looks the main danger. SEAFLARE (12) broke the maiden last start. Might find a few stronger but not leaving out of trifectas and the winkers are going on. INSPIRED SUN (8) brings winning form here from a similar level at Ballarat. Wider winning chance and not leaving out with a great record at the track and especially if there is any rain about. TE ATA (5) has had a freshen since the last start win here. Track and trip suits and has a place case.
SELECTIONS: Sandsation the win and a saver on Inspired Sun each-way.

COFFS HARBOUR: RACE 7 @ 3:10 PM

The well-related SACRED ZIM (3) didn't do much wrong in his first campaign with a win and a second from two starts. Tuned up for this with two handy trial wins and gets 2kg off with the claim. Looks very hard to beat. LA MISKA (8) loves this track with two wins from two outings. Will strip fitter third-up from the spell and looms as the main danger. The consistent DON'T CRY MAMA (6) has only missed a place twice in eight career starts and has placed three from three first-up. Must be included. CROWNED EMPRESS (11) has won over this track and trip and is in the mix. OUTREACH BELLE (13) will be rock-hard fit and is best of the rest.
SELECTIONS: Sacred Zim to win.

MACKAY: RACE 8 @ 4:34 PM

SABOR (3) led and won the Maiden comfortably at Rockhampton showing his best form since switching from Sydney. He has more up the sleeve and can go on with it at the mile with Butler sticking. ODDFELLOW (7) has just missed the last two at Townsville and they stack right up. Uses the rail and will go close. NICKS (9) was okay at Rocky for the new yard and go on the Sunshine Coast effort prior. Needs a good ride but can improve today. ROCK 'N' SOL (4) comes back a level off the latest and has the form to be in the finish.
SELECTIONS: Going with Sabor.

CANBERRA ACTON: RACE 6 @ 2:55 PM

LARMOUR (2) improved sharply winning here on the grass before the nose defeat at Wagga in stronger company than this. She keeps getting better and has placed her only start on the Action. In a top local yard and she's the one to beat. CASINO TIME (8) has placed the last two at the mile and is ready to salute. He's won this track and McDougall sticks. First time at 1900m but should see it out. CHIEF KIDDER (3) was plain over further at Nowra but the lead-up form reads well. He will use the low gate and Penza is a key booking. MOHAHNA (6) has been struggling to find his peaks but runs along and gets a handy 2kg claim. A stablemate to the top selection and the longer trip may be just what he's looking for.
SELECTIONS: Backing Larmour.
