Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for May 23.
Major metropolitan meetings are today held at Sandown, Muswellbrook, Port Augusta, Sunshine Coast, Kalgoorlie, Nowra and Devonport.
SANDOWN-LAKESIDE: RACE 5 @ 2:45 PM
CHANTREA (1) has a touch of class having won six of eleven lifetime starts including two at Listed level. She looks ready to show her best here third up having won the Listed Belmont Oaks in this distance range following that pattern in the past. With the prospect of firmer footing in this race she's the one to beat. SAVVY LAD (5) won two on end in this distance range before coming up short last time out on the Heavy. He won't be far away in the run and appeals each way. SHAKESPEARE (12) caught the eye last start when first up. He's not without a hope here off some handy New Zealand form prior. CHUCK A LUCK (6) will strip fitter third up and this distance range suits. He's one for the multiples. MILESTONE (11) third up out to this trip could be an improver.
SELECTIONS: #1 Chantrea looks ready to win.

MUSWELLBROOK: RACE 3 @ 1:55 PM
DATE (5) has been very consistent without winning placing in the top five at her past six starts. Will strip fitter third-up from the spell and is drawn perfectly in gate two. Looks hardest to beat against this lot. DULCERO (2) has been thereabouts of late and should be rock-hard fit for this. Looks the main threat. GERWIG (7) will find this easier than recent provincial outings and can be in the frame. MISS TWENTY TWENTY (8) has had plenty of chances but has placed over this journey and can be in the mix. ABOUT THE MOON (3) is best of the rest in a race with a long tail.
SELECTIONS: #5 Date to win.
PORT AUGUSTA: RACE 4 @ 2:35 PM
JAAMINT (4) ran a big race in strong city grade last time when she led and was only reeled in late by Going Gaga. She's been in the money at three of four here and is a clear top pick. SUPERVELOCE (5) has won seven raced at was placed at Morphettville three runs back in December. He draws out but should be right in a race like this. DATASET (1) brings some solid Alice Springs form here winning there four starts back and was placed behind Exonerate last time out. He gets in well with the claim. DOCTOR DOOLITTLE (2) was runner-up behind stablemate Kissable Eight here last time out and must be respected. GIRLINTHEMIRROR (3) was placed behind Sizzling Bullet last time out and did win at Clare three starts back.
SELECTIONS: A repeat of last start and #4 Jaamint should be too good.
SUNSHINE COAST: RACE 3 @ 1:37 PM
NOT TOO HARD (2) has missed a whisker the two runs back and did a good job heavily-bet the latest. The longer trip should suit and she's drawn to advantage. The one to beat. DUTCH DELIGHT (8) made sharp improvement just missing at Ipswich. Keeps the small claim and just has to manage the 380m dip in trip to threaten. HARD EIGHT (9) hasn't been far off the mark and looks to get in well after the claim. Keep safe.
SELECTIONS: Backing #2 Not Too Hard to win.
KALGOORLIE: RACE 2 @ 1:40 PM
IRON SHARP (2) resumes for the new yard off good efforts in stronger Maidens. Has placed fresh and is well-placed with the 2kg claim. Rates strongly. BOONDI ROCKS (3) flopped at Northam but was good placing first-up prior at the Scarpside. Has switched yards on a 10 day return and gets a low gate and handy 3kg claim. A bounce is likely. FIRST MOMENT (5) will find this easier than Ascot and best to go on the Bunbury placing three back. Would go close regathering that form. JOLLY LACE (4) always puts in and won't be far away.
SELECTIONS: Backing #2 Iron Sharp to win.
NOWRA: RACE 2 @ 1:25 PM
MAJESTIC WINGS (6) is making a great record for herself, having only missed the placings three times in her career thus far. Has placed in her last two at Goulburn and the mile looks to suit. Hard to go past. SUPER VINO (2) was an impressive winner first-up from a break at Goulburn, winning by 3.3 lengths. Drawn well and has won over the distance before. Major player. HEAVENLY GLORY (3) tired late second-up at this course last time out. Has been placed twice at the distance from four attempts. Keagan Latham takes the ride. Will be in the finish. ROSEIRRO (1) charged home last start at Warwick Farm and was placed at this course two starts back. Goes well at the distance and is a winning chance. DELUDE (10) went under as favourite last time out but happy to forgive. Has been racing well of late and a win looks close. Today could be the day.
SELECTIONS: #6 Majestic Wings to get her second career win.
