Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for June 16.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Randwick Kensington, Doomben, Sandown Lakeside, Gawler and Belmont Park.
RANDWICK KENSINGTON: RACE 6 @ 3:45 PM
GIN 'N' BITTERS (4) is a Queensland visitor who has handy strike rate of four wins from nine starts. Has a good first-up record with two wins from three attempts and gets McDonald in the irons from gate three. Looks the one they all have to run down. HIBISCUS LADY (5) has placed three from four over this track and trip and gets 2kg weight relief. In the mix. ACCELERATO (3) is rarely far away and will strip fitter third-up from the spell. In the mix. BROKEN ARROWS (1) has won over this course and distance and can earn a cheque. SEDITION (6) is best of the rest with the 3kg claim.

BELMONT PARK: RACE 6 @ 4:12 PM
MISS MARANTA (1) has a top record over this sort of distance and the form around it from recent racing reads well. Performed on wet or dry and looks one of the better chances of the day. SPEEDBIRD (2) should be ready to go after a month-long let-up. Just outside of the placings at Ascot about five weeks ago and looks suited in this company. SMILE FOR ME (4) kept on well behind The Verdict last start. Steps up in trip which shouldn't hold any fears. Races well here and can be in the finish. GOLDEN BONNEY (10) made late ground to win here late last month over the same distance. In form and has a place case here at least. PARIS GIRL (11) beat English Heritage (engaged earlier today) last start by a narrow margin. Not discounting but measures up as more a trifecta prospect today.
SELECTIONS: Miss Maranta the win.
BELMONT PARK: RACE 3 @ 2:24 PM
PLAYING RED (5) arguably should have added to its winning record last start here when beaten narrowly earlier this month. Can turn that around here and any rain would enhance prospects further. SCHUHPLATTER (8) was disappointing last time after racing keenly. The winkers are going on so expecting improvement. PAEROA LAD (2) is a consistent type. Placed at good odds last week after overracing the run before. On the up and goes in quinellas as well. NOBEL KNIGHT (1) overcame a few hurdles to win on debut. Overraced and travelled wide. Could be the value runner and can't be left out. MIND TRICKS (7) may need the run first-up but went ok in a recent barrier trial. One for trifectas.

DOOMBEN: RACE 6 @ 2:53 PM
XERRI (1) just missed in Listed grade here and then did about what expected when out of the market. Finds a lot easier and will ride the speed from the rail A bounce is likely. QUATUM (3) has been struggling to find the form he demonstrated winning at Sydney on debut. The recent trial suggests he's back on track. Gets a leading hoop and the market should tell. LUSKIN HERO (6) won easily first-up off a sharp trial and can build on that. QUATUM (3) resumes and has trialled well. Looks in for a better campaign.
SELECTIONS: Xerri rates to win.
GAWLER: RACE 8 @ 4:15 PM
HI SMOKEY (1) was a Balaklava winner wo starts back and ran well on speed behind Koruto at Murray Bridge last time out. AFTER YOU (7) was a Naracoorte winner two starts back and will find this easier than chasing home He's A Balter last time. ARCTIC BLAZE (9) made good ground late time out and has each-way appeal here. BATTLE BLITZ (5) is resuming but could run a cheeky race here drawn out with the help of a claim. KEYSOR (17) has a handy record on wet tracks and could be worth some thought at big odds.
SELECTIONS: Hi Smokey to score.
SANDOWN-LAKESIDE: RACE 8 @ 4:30 PM
ELLIS PARK (9) is promising and resumes off the Hillside win. Should come back further improved and the leading rider sticks. Has won fresh and should prove hard to beat. NATIONAL CHOICE (1) is a Group and Listed performer resuming as a gelding. Gets a handy 3kg claim and won't know himself in the grade. Gets back but will hit the line hard and is feared. KUZCO LAD (6) resumes and is also in good hands. He's trialled well and Oliver riding first time is a push. May control the race and take pegging back. CLIFFS OF BELAURA (10) gets a soft run and reaches peak fitness. In the mix if she can find her best.
SELECTIONS: Ellis Park may provide the betting edge.
