Holden star Shane van Gisbergen has taken another step towards clinching his second Supercars title after winning two races at Darwin's Hidden Valley.
Shane van Gisbergen is racing so well this Supercars season, the Holden star is even dominating at tracks he has struggled at in the past.
The Red Bull Ampol driver has completed a Sunday double-header in Darwin, claiming a comfortable victory - his eighth win from 14 races in 2020.
It was almost a carbon-copy display from the first race of the day, with van Gisbergen powering past Ford rival Will Davison before the first corner.
Shell V-Power's Davison kept losing ground as the reigning Bathurst 1000 champion cruised to the 48th win of his career, drawing level with the legendary Peter Brock
"Again at the start, I don't know what's happened this weekend but I've had three beauties," van Gisbergen said.
"I just managed the pace and drove away when the tyres were nice.
"Our car wasn't very good but we just chipped away and all weekend it's been really good for the races."
Triple Eight teammate Jamie Whincup finished third, making it an identical podium from the first race of the day.
Hidden Valley has been one of the New Zealander's least favourite circuits, often complaining about the Top End heat.
Before Sunday, van Gisbergen had only once won twice in Darwin during his 15-year career - in 2011 and 2016 - but he doubled that tally in only a few hours.
If it was not for a pit-stop failure on Saturday when leading, van Gisbergen could have easily made it three wins for the weekend.
After winning the first six races of the season, it would now take a catastrophe for him to not take out his second Supercars title and back up the one he claimed in 2016.
Whincup won the 2017 title, before former Ford star Scott McLaughlin completed a three-peat between 2018 and 2020.
Holden's Chaz Mostert became the only other driver to win multiple races this season when he claimed Saturday's race, after qualifying in eighth.
