Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on August 11.
Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Newcastle, Sandown, Doomben, Belmont and Balaklava.
NEWCASTLE: RACE 7 @ 4:55 PM
SOAMI (4) is in great form winning by 0.5L last start at Kensington as favourite. Draws well and the claim of Reece Jones is a bonus. The one to beat. HEAD OF STATE (13) resumes after pulling up with Cardiac Arrhythmia after the G3 Pago Pago. Is fitter for two trials and Lee Magorrian takes the ride. Draws well and should be about the finish. LAND AHOY (11) is a stayer resuming but wasn't beaten far when fresh last campaign. Was only beaten 5L in the G1 Australian Oaks prior to the spell. Keep safe. DEFEAT (9) put them to the sword getting back on top of the ground at Wyong last start. Can be in the finish on his most recent performance.

BALAKLAVA: RACE 6 @ 2:30 PM
GRAND HOST (2) was impressive thriving on the heavy conditions to win easily by 3.5 len here last time. He draws a nice gate and looks the one to beat again. SILVER ON RED (4) was spelled after a good Murray Bridge win and was solid first-up when he beat all but Grand Host here when he did some work on speed. MAGIC PHANTOM (3) races well having been in the money at all three starts and was good behind Star Of Manhattan at Morphettville on the Parks track last time. ALL IN WAR (5) has been good since coming to Sa and deserves to break through, his latest behind It's Kind Of Magic at Gawler was good for a race like this. LINCORICE BULLET (12) loves a heavy track and is worth throwing into multiples at big odds.
SELECTIONS: Grand Host to win again.
BELMONT PARK: RACE 5 @ 2:24 PM
REBEL HEART (5) presents back 300m in trip off a solid effort in Stakes grade. Keep Pike and this is winnable fifth-up and freshened. STOCKTAKA (4) made good improvement at the mile placing this grade at Northam. Gets Rawiller and can make the finish again. GHOBELLA (1) has raced favourite here the last three and delivered by 3L the latest from the speed. Keeps improving and gets the handy 3kg claim today. AL MAHALO (2) is honest and gets a soft run from the rail. In the mix with the 2kg claim.
SELECTIONS: Rebel Heart appeals.
DOOMBEN: RACE 7 @ 4:03 PM
ACROBATIC (2) won the 72 comfortably here at even-money and then came back and was just nudged out the same grade. Gets a 3kg claim today and a soft run from the low barrier. Peaks and will take beating. PHANTOM COURT (12) is third-up and also ready to win. Needs a good ride from the 3kg claimer but rates to be right in the finish. SUPER GORGEOUS (10) was just beaten at Eagle Farm spiking the figures and also gets in well with the 3kg claim. Needs some luck pushing forward but is also a genuine hope. FIFTEEN ROUNDS (7) was close up here seeking the hat-trick off Dubbo wins. He won't be far away.
SELECTIONS: Going with Acrobatic in a good contest.
SANDOWN-HILLSIDE: RACE 8 @ 4:30 PM
ZIAVERA (10) is ready to win off the two near-misses. Clearly rates best and Williams will give her a soft ride from the positive gate. THE SISTERS (14) brings decent form to peak and there was nothing in it the latest after racing wide. She gets in light this grade with a 3kg claim and can make the finish. LANI BANG BANG (7) matched her best just beaten on resumption and it was a decent effort. Fitter she's also a hope. MOSSCON (3) and MISS STARWAY (5) are also going well enough to deserve consideration.
