Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on August 13.
Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Geelong, Muswellbrook, Port Macquarie and Ipswich.
GEELONG: RACE 8 @ 4:00 PM
COOLSHOT (9) had trialled well and then led and blitzed the Maidens at Cranbourne as favourite. He couldn't' have been more impressive and has the speed to manage the outside gate. Fitter be can take the next step. ZION (10) resumes as a gelding off the Flemington placing and has won fresh. He's shown plenty and will have come on. In the top yard and should be ready and go close. NAVAL ENVOY (5) was okay resuming on the synthetic. He brought strong figures to that and John Allen rides off the low barrier. The speedy galloper can make quick improvement. APRES LA MER (18) reaches peak fitness and was only beaten 1.4L on The Lakeside. She's fast enough to manage the sticky gate and looks well over the odds.
SELECTIONS: Sticking with Coolshot.

IPSWICH: RACE 7 @ 3:20 PM
A BIG CHANCE (2) missed a nose at Eagle Farm making a ratings spike. Enjoyed the lift to the mile and should be going one better. IRISH ACE (6) placed at the Sunshine Coast and has more to give. Gets the small claim and is also a winning hope. SHOTGUN BOBBY (1) matched his best first-up beaten a half-length at Lismore this trip. Fitter now and will settle back and hit the line. BRIEF SOJOURN (3) showed enough here the latest and fitter is in the mix along with QIJI BELLEZZA (7).
SELECTIONS: With A Big Chance.
MUSWELLBROOK: RACE 6 @ 3:50 PM
RUBY FACTOR (5) was a big winner at Scone last start off the back of a narrow loss. The booking of Alysha Collett is a good push and he's sure to make his presence felt. ISLAND GRANGE (4) ran on well to finish 2L away at Scone fresh. Improves second up and the awkward barrier won't hurt as he gets back in the run. Leading chance. DOLLAREURO (1) resumes with a good trial at Wyong under his belt. Performs well fresh and faces easier opposition today. Won't be far away. PETAIN (7) has been around the mark of late and finds a winnable race. Respect.
SELECTIONS: Ruby Factor to win.
PORT MACQUARIE: RACE 2 @ 1:05 PM
Former European ELECTED (5) did everything but win in his first preparation placing on four consecutive occasions to start his career. Has tuned up for this with two handy trials and the stable has had plenty of success with these Northern hemisphere imports. Must be respected. JUST ZIGGY (7) has improved since joining the new stable placing two from three starts this time in including one over this journey. Matheson has been in the irons for all three runs and sticks. Looms as the main danger. SEETHING CHUCK (10) wasn't disgraced on debut and will take plenty of benefit from that race day experience. In the mix with the 3kg claim. The well-related PULITZER PRIZE (9) is a former Victorian having his first run in the region and is a massive watch. ALWAYS WRITTEN OFF (12) has shown enough at the trials to warrant respect on debut.
SELECTIONS: Elected to win.
