Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on August 18.
Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Sandown Hillside, Randwick Kensington, Doomben, Gawler and Belmont Park.
SANDOWN-HILLSIDE: RACE 7 @ 3:55 PM
WORSFOLD (6) won here comfortably and then was well-bet again at Sale and missed the hat-trick by a nose. Reaches peak fitness and rates to bounce back. ZOIST (4) brings a similar form line from Adelaide. Won the 72 by a space the latest as a hot favourite and is suited with the 3kg claim. NIKAU SPUR (3) has been heavily-supported the four starts back and has won two of them. Had excuses the latest and is a player off the freshen. CETSHWAYO (12) resumes and was last seen in the Victorian Derby (2500m) when he had a tough run. Certainly has the ability and Kah's booking suggests he's going to be presented forward.
SELECTIONS: Backing Worsfold to win.

DOOMBEN: RACE 8 @ 4:38 PM
TOLKOWSKY (1) switched from Godolphin and was only beaten 2L here first-up. The speed-bred gelding has plenty up the sleeve and can go one better for the sharp yard with Maloney sticking. CHOMPERS (3) won the maiden first-up for the premier barn having switched from the Waller yard in Melbourne. He's got better figures in the back-from and fitter no surprise if he went on with it. PERFECT IMPRESSION (4) is an improver coming off a near-miss at the Sunshine Coast. She draws for a soft run and is in the mix. BOHEMIAN BOOM (7) was a deserved Maiden winner and then made a ratings spike beaten 2L at Eagle Farm in stronger. The 3kg claimer goes on and will use the handy gate. Close to peak and can't be ruled out.
SELECTIONS: Backing Tolkowsky.
GAWLER: RACE 9 @ 4:15 PM
GO BUNDLE (4) has a good record and was too good for Our Tigersun here last time and should take some beating again. BOLT BY (1) is lightly-raced and was a Murray Bridge winner beating Effortkat in January and has the benefit of two trials under his belt. MR WHITACRE (2) is a former NSW galloper who has won his past two and must be respected. HI SMOKEY (3) was a Balaklava winner three starts back and should be right in the mix from a good barrier. TINNY BAR BLUE (13) has a good record here and can run into the money.
SELECTIONS: Go Bundle to win again.
BELMONT PARK: RACE 3 @ 1:14 PM
DEFENDING (1) showed plenty on debut at Ascot and missed a lip resuming here in stronger company running along. Gets a low gate and the handy 2kg claim and fitter rates the one to beat. MINNO (9) debuts for a leading barn and the recent trial was sharp. The late market will tell the story. STORY BOOK (5) was just nudged out in an Ascot Open 2 and then didn't have much luck resuming in the Open 3. Suited and gets the visors first time. Can improve into the finish. HARDLY EVER (7) debuts and is better than the latest trial suggests. Gets a sticky gate but expect her to go well.
SELECTIONS: Backing Defending to win.
