Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on August 26.
Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Echuca, Wagga, Mackay and Northam.
ECHUCA: RACE 1 @ 12:30 PM
LINAS LEGEND (2) showed plenty of promise at first campaign when in the money at both starts in town. Looks well suited in this maiden company. Ticks all the right boxes. EXTREME FLIGHT (1) turned in a eye-catching run over 1113m at Sale on debut. Hit the line well and will be improved by the outing. Expected to go close. SHIRSHOV (5) chased home OK at Moe last time on very heavy track. Has shown promise and certainly worth keeping in mind. PARIS SHIRAZ (13) got well back and hit the line well when resuming at Pakenham Synthetic. Fitter for the run and has to be respected here.

WAGGA: RACE 4 @ 2:50 PM
NOTHING COMPARES (1) drops back to country grade after finishing 1.8L back in Highway company last start. Draws well and is aided by Damon Budler's claim. The one to beat. DISMAYED (9) won well at Narrandera last start and will carry less weight today. Last two wins have come on a wet track. Rates well and should be in the finish. INVINCIBLE DASH (4) tried hard but couldn't reel in the winner at Canberra Acton last time out. Draws better today and was a winner on a wet surface three back. Rates well and is a winning hope. JUST BUSINESS (6) relished the conditions last start to put up a big win at Albury last start. Has the figures to go on with it. PERFECT PITCH (5) is third-up today and wasn't far away in Highway grade last start. Is ultra consistent and won't be far away again.

MACKAY: RACE 7 @ 3:50 PM
SVINDAL (2) won twice here and then was just okay at Eagle Farm in much stronger. Is back after 5 days with some gear tweaks and a bounce is likely. REVENIRE (1) has had an unlucky run sandwiched between two close-up efforts and he gets the blinkers again. He can make the finish. CAVELLTON (3) missed a lip this grade at Rocky as favourite and then was slow off there after and didn't get into it. He can sit handier and a win wouldn't surprise. ROCK 'N' SOL (7) peaks and gets a big weight drop with the 3kg claim at this level. The win here two-back stacks right up.
SELECTIONS: Backing Svindal.
NORTHAM: RACE 7 @ 5:15 PM
STARLIFT (5) was beaten 1.3L at Belmont after an awkward start and then went back and just missed third-up. Gets Pike for the apprentice and is the one they have to beat. BIG SCREEN (2) is speedy and resumes owning strong figures from Ascot. He will ride the speed from the rail and is a player if presented on-song. CASTILLO DEL LAGO (1) resumes off an unlucky effort in Stake grade over 1800m. His figures stack up this distance range and the latest trial was good. He needs to be kept safe with weight relief courtesy of the 3kg claimer. GIN 'N' SWANIC (3) resumes and the recent Belmont trial suggests he has come on. He may prove best of the rest.
