Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for October 5.
Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Goulburn, Mildura and Rockhampton.
GOULBURN: RACE 6 @ 4:20 PM
VERBEK (9) kept coming to be beaten a whisker when fresh from a three-month spell last start at Kembla Grange over 1000m. Drops 3kgs under today's scale and is ideally placed over the extra furlong. Sure to prove tough to stop. SPATS PAV BOWIE (1) showed good early speed on debut then battled on gamely to finish second, beaten just a long neck, over 1100m at Nowra recently. Drawn to enjoy a lovely run just off the pace and shapes as one to consider. ARGYLL GARDENS (2) drifted well back but found the line well and wasn't beaten far over 1100m at Nowra when resuming last start. Fitter and must be included. STAR BUYER (8) did his best work late on debut here recently. Stays at the same trip but is a likely improver.
SELECTIONS: This sets up perfectly for #9 Verbek.

MILDURA: RACE 7 @ 4:30 PM
NO WAY EVER (7) is lightly raced and progressing nicely. He was a winner on debut as favourite before a close up finish in town behind talented pair Darceandermill and Douceur when well supported. He's the one to beat back to this grade. WEGOTTEM TODAY SON (5) ran well in a good quality BM58 first up. He should be able to settle closer in the run from a better draw and should be thereabouts with added fitness. FRENCH BISHOP (6) stuck to his task well at big odds for fourth in town to start last campaign in a strong race. Look for another forward showing resuming in this grade. KING'S RANSOM (3) resumes having been a nice winner on debut before being tried in better races. He creates plenty of interest with natural improvement. TELEKINESIS (2) performs best on the Synthetic but is worth including in the multiples dropping back to this grade.
SELECTIONS: No Way Ever is the one to beat.
MILDURA: RACE 8 @ 5:00 PM
DONNA NATALINA (5) was a first up winner over this distance to begin last preparation. She ended last campaign with a narrow defeat to Diamonds Inthe Sky in town which reads well for a return to racing in this grade. She'll make her own luck on speed and looks hard to hold out. REWARD WITH RETURN (1) rarely runs a bad race and looks well placed in this grade, despite the weight. Keep safe. YULONG KNIGHT (2) has placed at four of his past five starts in some good standard races and looms as a danger if he gets his preferred rain affected going. END OF DAY (8) is likely to find this too short resuming but is worth including in the exotics.
SELECTIONS: Donna Natalina looks hard to beat first up.
ROCKHAMPTON: RACE 5 @ 4:15 PM
Good race but impossible to go past ONLY WANNA SING (1). Close-up in far richer grade at Cairns two back then bolted in last time. Goes very well here with five wins from seven starts and hard to beat while going so well. CAVELLTON (7) scored narrowly by a nose last time out at Yeppoon and is down in weight. Looks a leading hope again. VELARO (8) also won at Yeppoon last start and drops 2.5kg. Going well and has top three claims again. BOGEY MAN (4) bounced back to winning form at this track last start and rates a chance in this field. GYPSY BIKER (5) looks one of the genuine hopes in the race.
SELECTIONS: Stick with Only Wanna Sing.
