Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for October 22.
Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Moonee Valley, Scone, Gawler, Mackay, Echuca, Cootamundra and Sunshine Coast.
MOONEE VALLEY: RACE 7 @ 8:15 PM
Haven't seen the best of JONKER (2) in two runs this spring but both have come with genuine excuses. Took off on a solo mission down the straight first up and pulled up with an issue before going to the Premiere at Randwick and finding trouble in running. Should be positive with him here, gets an in-form jockey in the saddle, and his placings in the Galaxy and Kingsford Smith read well in a thin Group One. SAVATOXL (4) is the Goodwood winner and was back at least as well when winning the Schillaci. Race rated higher than LOMBARDO (6) winning at listed level on the same card but he has been spacing his rivals in recent time and the win around here two back says he has a hope. INGRATIATING (11) ran a poor one last time but form prior makes him a genuine threat.
SELECTIONS: Jonker won't get a better chance to win a big one.

SCONE: RACE 4 @ 3:10 PM
MISS LAQUETTA (4) has been impressive in two starts to date without winning. She flashed home late in both starts, finishing 4th of 12 and 2nd of 13 and she looks set to breakthrough in this race over more ground. TASTEFUL (2) returned from a good spell (238 days), finishing 3rd of 10. She is set to strip fitter and is drawn to figure. ANGELA SISTINA (1) arrives here third up, following 4th of 13 and 3rd of 13 finishes. She draws well and should be fit and firing here. WENET (8) led them up when 4th of 10 this distance when resuming from a spell (129 days). She will strip fitter for astute trainer/jockey combination. WHAT A PEACH (3) has finished 3rd of 12 and 2nd of 8 at two starts to date. She jumps up a furlong here, which is a query but she is drawn to figure.
SELECTIONS: Miss Laquetta to win.
GAWLER: RACE 2 @ 3:10 PM
BAMYAN BUDDHA (8) has done everything but win with two close-up seconds to start the career. Will strip fitter second-up and Hurdle has been in the saddle for both placings and sticks. Is clearly the one to beat. VICTORY BANDIT (13) is consistent without winning placing in six of eight starts to date. Has placed first-up before and looms as the main danger. The well-named THE MARKLE SPARKLE (12) out of the dam Potential Princess will be nearing peak fitness now fourth-up from the spell and can make her presence felt. ROYAL GISELLE (11) wasn't disgraced in town last time out and can earn a cheque. The well-related ICHIBANSAN (3) best of the rest from the low draw.

MACKAY: RACE 6 @ 3:53 PM
PRINCESS RULES (4) had a lip defeat between a string of wins and improved again taking out the Open here 20 days ago. Keeps the handy 2kg claim and the on-pacer clearly rates to go on with it. MORENO (1) resumed in the same race and was in need of the run. Has the ability and the 3kg claim brings him into it. Expect a much better effort. NORTH AFRIKA (2) brings strong city form to resumption for the new yard. Will race over further but has trialled well at Rockhampton suggesting he will be more forward this time around. RAIDEN (3) resumed with a solid effort at Cloncurry. Goes well here and would be a player finding his best.
SELECTIONS: Backing Princess Rules to win.
ECHUCA: RACE 7 @ 4:00 PM
BELLA ROYALE (7) didn't get all favours last start when fresh up. She is fitter today and has winning second up form and is expected to be one of the favourites here. MELTDOWN (10) is fresh up and dropping in class. Won her last fresh up attempt and must be respected in this field. TESTA PRINCESS (8) had a genuine excuse last time out when running out of room in the straight. She is going to get back again but with a bit more luck she will be fighting out the finish. Watch closely. SON OF BIELSKI (2) pulled up lame last start and went for a spell. He is a quality galloper when right and a win here fresh up would come as no shock. Definitely one to follow.

COOTAMUNDRA: RACE 7 @ 4:44 PM
READY TO HUMBLE (1) looks well placed here. He has been racing in tougher company, finishing 5th of 13 and 3rd of 16 but he was not beaten very fair on either occasion and he looks set to breakthrough for his new stable. BLACK WAND (3) is a handy galloper (40:6-12) but was disappointing last start when second last of 12. He runs a good mile and can improve on his previous run. ECKER ROAD (4) was 4th of 13 in back-to-back starts in strong company before finishing down the track, finishing 10th of 16 last time out when given no chance from the wide draw. He is capable of lobbing closer from the good draw in this race and could run a big race at big odds. ZOUNIQUE (8) has been consistent since resuming from a spell (187 days), only missing a place once in six starts. He won well two starts back when 1st of 6 this distance before finishing 5th of 12. He is worth following. NOTABADIDEA (10) is capable here but needs to lift on recent runs.
SELECTIONS: Ready To Humble to win.
SUNSHINE COAST: RACE 7 @ 8:52 PM
FEAR THE NIGHT (7) has been getting back but has placed the last two starts and there was only a half-length the latest at Doomben. Ran a standout figure in this line-up and the mile looks right up his alley. NATALIEANN (9) was beaten 2.5L in the same race and will, also be better for it. Draws low today and can get closer. THAT'S A MIRACLE (6) had been tracking along okay before the plain run on the heavy. Has a small claim and shouldn't be far away on a 6-day return. ITZ PARIS (8) and SIGNAL ROW (4) both run along and the former is back in grade. They are capable of filling out the first-four at a price.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Fear The Night.
