Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for October 31.
Cups at Mornington and Goulburn highlight a good day of Sunday racing around Australia.
MORNINGTON: RACE 8 @ 5:00 PM
IMPERIAL LAD (2) dominated from the front last start when recording a comfortable win as an odds on favourite. His form prior was excellent highlighted by close up finishes behind the likes of Elephant, Ayrton and Agreeable. He'll take running down again. DON'T DOUBT DORY (1) can be forgiven for last start when he made his run a long way out on the Heavy. This distance suits and he can return to the form that saw him win first up, two starts ago. LOVE SENSATION (6) wasn't far away last start as favourite when dropping in grade from strong mares Group racing where she wasn't disgraced. She appeals each way. MYSTERY SHOT (3) is struggling to find the same form he showed as a younger horse but this race looks a suitable target. Keep safe. GLOBAL GIFT (7) has placed at his past four starts and although this is tougher he's worth including in the multiples. SELECTIONS: Imperial Lad can win again.

CAIRNS: RACE 6 @ 4:20 PM
WAR GENERAL (2) has had a short ten week break prior following a fifth of 12 at this track following a nose win at Innisfail on a heavy track.Should be able to race up on the pace and figure in the finish. CUNNAMULLA (5) finished strongly to win by a neck at Townsville last start and on that performance he has to be a strong chance of scoring another victory here. Another runner expected to race close to the speed and get a nice sit. SET TO SIZZLE (6) sat in behind the pace last start at Atherton to win easily by 5.5 lengths as the $2.00 favourite. Has had five starts at this track for a win and four placings and should add to that record today. FLUTTERING (7) finished a game third last start at Gordonvale when the race favourite backed to close at $3.00 and prior to that run was a nose second at this track. Never really runs a bad race and won't be far away at the finish. SELECTIONS: War General fresh-up hard to beat.
GOULBURN: RACE 7 @ 4:55 PM
FRENCH MARINE (6) wasn't far away at Warwick Farm last time out when beaten 1.3L. Faces a much easier task here today and he'll prove very hard to beat from the inside draw. WINNING BUSINESS (13) broke her maiden in fine style at Nowra last time out and rises to the 1200m journey today. Up in class but if she can repeat her last effort she can make it two wins in-a-row. MYSTIC VEIN (2) was no match for the winner here last start when beaten 2.3L over 1300m. Draws well and has never missed the placings on this track. Definite winning hope. LAND OF VALENS (1) comes into this first-up but has trialed well recently. Blinkers come off and he won't be far away. SHELBY SIXTYSIX (5) ran on well at Wagga last start and has a great record at this trip. Draws well and merits respect. SELECTIONS: French Marine to prove too good for this field.
MUSWELLBROOK: RACE 4 @ 2:45 PM
MISS LAQUETTA (2) has cost punters in back-to-back starts, jumping a short price favourite and finishing second on both occasions. She has obvious ability and the extra ground in this race should give her a chance to wind up. MYCAH LEON (1) was well found in the markets at both starts to date, finishing 3rd and 2nd respectively. The extra distance looks to suit this gelding. GIGGLE (4) did a few things wrong on debut when finishing 5th. It would be no surprise to see her run a better race second-up. IRONIC MISS (5) hasn't set the world alight at two starts this preparation but she is expected to get better over more ground. SIPPITY SUP (8) improved last start to finish 3rd after putting blinkers on the first time. She is a consistent mare (13:0-5) and with the right gear changes, she could be close to a win. SELECTIONS: Miss Laquetta to win.
