Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB thoroughbred meetings on April 11.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Ballarat, Hamilton, Pinjarra, Devonport, Sunshine Coast, Dubbo, Gundagai and Port Augusta.
BALLARAT: RACE 4 @ 3:25 PM
LAUGHING GRIZZLEY (6) looks ready to win here third up out to 2000m. He's improved at both runs back from a spell behind Reuber and Suppression which reads very well for this race. Any sting out of the ground shouldn't worry him and he looks the one to beat. BOWNESS (10) is capable of sharp improvement here with the Blinkers coming off. She wasn't far away at this track two starts ago behind the talented Princess Rhaenys and will strip fitter third up. NEWZEEL DEAL (7) improved sharply out to this trip last start when second up. He appeals on an each way basis here with added fitness. SANTADEAL (9) was no match for the winner last start on debut but looks better suited in this race on breeding. Respect. PENITENTIARY (8) is yet to place but could add value to the exotics.
SELECTIONS: Laughing Grizzley looks one of the better bets on the card.
As a FREE Racing and Sports offer, below is the Ballarat Card.
DUBBO: RACE 3 @ 2:05 PM
This looks a winnable race for YAK (3). Was a close-up third last start at Wellington in a harder event and has placed two from four at this journey. Will be rock-hard fit for this and looks the testing material. COLVILLE HOUSE (5) has been getting better with every run this preparation and will strip fitter fifth-up from the spell. Looks a major player. THE DARK KNIGHT (2) was a handy winner two starts back and is drawn well for Arnold. In the mix. POP'S GLORY (9) can improve with recent racing and PRODIGAL PRINCE (10) is usually thereabouts.
SELECTIONS: Yak to win.
GUNDAGAI: RACE 1 @ 12:30 PM
MORGENSTERN (5) hasn't done much wrong placing in three of four starts to date. Tuned up for this with a handy Warwick Farm trial when not far away and will be nearing peak fitness for this. Looks the one they have to catch. LENNY'S LAD (4) was a solid second last time out and will rock-hard fit for this fifth-up. Drawn well for Guymer in gate three and looms as the main danger. SINGING DIXIE (8) has placed two of her past three and strips fitter second-up. BUBBLER (1) has placed over this track and trip and comes in well with the claim. MELADIA (11) best of the rest.
SELECTIONS: Morgenstern to win.
PINJARRA SCARPSIDE: RACE 5 @ 3:00 PM
SHE'S ENCHANTED (3) has just missed twice in strong form races at Ascot in stronger grade. Gets an advantageous gate and the handy 2kg claim. She gets her chance at the provincials back in grade. TREVELLO (4) has just been nudged out the last two and Pike sticks for the top yard. Deserves the win and is feared. SHOCK RESULT (5) was tracking well before the latest and the on-pacer looks capable of placing. CLASSIC MAGNUS (6) reaches peak fitness and is knocking on the door. In the mix.
SELECTIONS: She's Enchanted may just have an edge.
PORT AUGUSTA: RACE 4 @ 3:35 PM
BUDGET KING (1) is back from a Darwin campaign when he was well fancied in the Cup before running third behind Handsome Return in the Katherine Cup. He was an easy winner his only start here and looks the one to beat. BOLT I AM (3) is a nice type who ran very well behind Midnight Storm in handy city grade last tie. He's ever raced on the dirt but has a nice turn of foot and could be a big danger here. IT'S HUMPHREY (2) has won four of nine here and looks a genuine improver on recent outings. ALPHAEUS (5) won a Clare maiden three starts back and has been around the mark in both starts since but this looks harder. LEONARDA (4) was a good Port Lincoln winner three starts back and has won three races here. SELECTIONS: Budget King to prove too smart.
SUNSHINE COAST: RACE 8 @ 4:30 PM
MISS CANADA (16) is a talented filly who tackled tougher company last campaign and was placed at G2 level. Has trialled up nicely for her return run and looks the testing material here. THE MOVE (5) has had two runs back from a break and has performed soundly on each occasion. Looks up to a race of this nature. CONTEMPTUOUS (2) has filled a minor placing in both runs since resuming and should be at peak for this. Won't be too far away. BOMBAY ROCKET (15) didn't finish the race off as expected last time after registering a Gold Coast win. Can bounce back here.
SELECTIONS: Back Miss Canada.
