Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for January 3.
Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Sandown Hillside, Moruya, Pinjarra and Taree.
SANDOWN-HILLSIDE: RACE 4 @ 3:00 PM
ATTRACTABLE (3) couldn't have been more impressive first up winning easily in good time when favourite. This race looks the natural progression and he can go close again fitter second up. GET ON THE GAS (4) has placed behind smart types Rhinoceros and Clemenceau, who has since won again, either side of a let up. That form reads well for this and he looms as a danger. WHAT A SHAM (10) resumed with a narrow win last start with a good gap to third and although this is harder he warrants plenty of respect turned out by the astute Patrick Payne yard. MARTINI SPECIAL (8) has been close up in handy races in two runs back from a spell and is ready to show her best. Include in the exotics. GREY WHISPER (7) placed behind the talented So Risque last start and appeals each way.
SELECTIONS: Attractable can make it two on end.

MORUYA: RACE 5 @ 3:43 PM
BLAAZAY (2) loves racing here on his home track with a record of three wins and three placings from just six outings. Is a winner first-up before and goes very well for Penza. Will be right there when the whips are cracking. MISS OSTEND (4) has been plying her trade in Randwick Highways and will find this much easier. Strips fitter third-up and drawn to get a gun run from the inside. Looks a key player. MOLLY NAILS (3) has only missed a drum once in six starts and has to be included. GRAND LUSITANO (8) has placed two from two around this circuit and can earn some minor money. UNDERGROUND MUSIC (5) is from a good barn and can run a race while fresh.
SELECTIONS: Blaazay to win.
PINJARRA: RACE 4 @ 5:00 PM
VALENCY (12) made her debut at Ascot last start over 1000m and after settling midfield during the running came home strongly to finish fourth of seven runners. Will appreciate the extra 200m in distance today and also meets a weaker line-up than what she faced last start. Hard to roll. AL TINA (3) came back from a spell to finish a nose second here of nine runners over 1000m. Will strip fitter here and rates as an each-way chance. LA GALEXIA (11) resumes from a spell and should be in for a good new prep now that she has racing experience behind her. Include in combinations. BETTER IN KIT (1) fought on well last start to finish second of seven runners at Albany, she won't be a maiden for long.
SELECTIONS: Valency looks one of the best bets on the card.
TAREE: RACE 1 @ 1:40 PM
FIRST PEOPLES (1) led over 1150m at Beaumont (Newcastle) last time and held on gamely for second, beaten less than a length. Has a high cruising speed and will be very hard to beat in this easier maiden. KIMWANTSTOGETAHEAD (7) is a filly by Adelaide out of Me No Marsh Potato who is at the races for the first time today. Looks set for a bold showing based on two impressive trials for Kris Lees. STAR IMPACT (14) ran below expectations last time at Beaumont (Newcastle), finishing fifth and beaten 5 lengths starting at $6.50. Should settle just off the lead and shapes as one to consider against softer opposition. OPALEYES (5) failed to threaten on debut last start, finishing in the second half of the field and 9 lengths from the winner over 1150m at Beaumont (Newcastle). Better for that outing and is expected to run well. ELITE QUALITY (10) is fitter for two runs back from a spell and could surprise.
SELECTIONS: Hard to go past #1 First Peoples.
