Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for January 21.
Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Canterbury, Flemington, Port Macquarie, Sunshine Coast, Canberra, Port Lincoln and Dalby.
CANTERBURY: RACE 5 @ 8:15 PM
MY DEMETRA (6) is a model of consistency and was rewarded last time out with a strong victory over this course and distance. Goes well for Clipperton who has a win and two placings from just four steers and no reason why she can't make it back-to-back wins. JUST A JEDI (3) got the job done at Gosford last start and this looks his pet distance. Loy sticks in the saddle and rates a serious contender. BEDFORD SQUARE (11) doesn't win out of turn but is usually thereabouts and is a must for the exotics. MAID OF ORE (2) will be rock-hard fit and can run a race from the low draw.

FLEMINGTON: RACE 5 @ 5:00 PM
TAX FREE PROPHET (4) resumes from a short spell and will be hard to hold-out following a last start sixth of 10 over 995m spell at Moonee Valley. Won two back at Mornington over 1000m when coming from well back in the field, looks well placed here to return to winning form. EL SALTO (2) is in top form with two wins from 12 attempts this campaign and ran on strongly from eighth on the turn at Moonee Valley last start to finish a neck second of 12 runners over 955m after a slow start and then getting held-up at the 400m mark. Will appreciate the extra distance and should be fighting out the finish. OUR FREE SPIRIT (3) defied his long odds at Sandown-Hillside last start when coming from eighth on the turn to finish second. Rates a solid each-way show. LUMBER PUNK (11) sat on the pace and fought on strongly to score at his last start by a nose over 1225m at Geelong. Resuming from a spell and expected to go close in his fresh-up state.
SELECTIONS: Tax Free Prophet looks the logical winner.
PORT MACQUARIE: RACE 5 @ 3:45 PM
JET PACK (7) was too bad to be true last start when beaten a long way at Newcastle (B), but has trialled nicely since. Blinkers come off again and if he can bounce back he's going to be hard to beat. HAVIERON (1) didn't handle the wet track last start so forgive that run. Form prior was good including a narrow defeat in this company three back. Drawn the inside and is bound to make his presence felt. WONFONTEIN (8) held on bravely to get the win last time out as favourite and a repeat effort will see her go close again. ENDORPHINS (6) fresh and will want further, but could be one to follow later in her campaign.
SELECTIONS: Jet Pack looks the one to beat.
SUNSHINE COAST: RACE 7 @ 8:30 PM
MORETON BAY (11) resumes off a solid trial for the premier barn. Missed a nose two-back and the debut effort prior at Doomben also reads well. Will be ready to go and take beating. BETTER THAN EPIC (1) also resumes and was just nudged out here before the spell. Draws for the run of the race and is sure to have come on. SPIRIT PRINCESS (13) resumes owning two big trial wins. The debut run was good but she gets a sticky barrier and has been away for a while. PETER THE PIPER (4) resumes from a low barrier with the blinkers applied. Has won a recent trial here and looks in the mix.
SELECTIONS: Backing Moreton Bay.
CANBERRA: RACE 8 @ 5:55 PM
SUPREMO (7) improved sharply third-up beaten 0.4L in stronger at Warwick Farm. Peaks now and has more to give. The in-form Owen can control the race from the low gate and the gelding is clearly the one to beat. RIBEAUVILLE (6) is knocking on the door. Peaks off the near miss at Nowra in a CL2 and Heywood's booking is a lead. CRIME SPREE (11) is a Maiden closed fat just nudged out at Beaumont (Newcastle) first-up. Draws wide again but gets Penza who can manage. In a powerful stable and has to be respected. DESTACADO (3) has placed both runs in and is on the improve. He can take a sit from the rail and make the finish again.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Supremo.
DALBY: RACE 9 @ 4:44 PM
THE TYLER (4) built nicely towards an impressive last start win, which made it three wins from only the eight starts. He is obviously above average and now as a five year old should be able to handle more racing. He should be suited by the step up in trip and from the good draw does look like the one to beat again. CALM SEEKER (5) backed up his good trial with a big win fresh up, he was then unsuited by the heavy track last start at Ipswich and only battled to end up midfield. He gets the coveted ace barrier and can bounce straight back to form on a likely good track here. Include in all multiples. EAST ESPLANADE (2) is a last start Kilcoy winner and is again ridden by Lilli Barr who is unbeaten on her. Include.
