Today’s Horse Racing Tips – 5th May 2022

3 minute read

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for May 5.

Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Hawkesbury, Warrnambool, Wagga, Gatton and Pinjarra Scarpside.

HAWKESBURY: RACE 7 @ 4:05 PM

TOESONTHENOSE (3) led and easily won the Maiden here first-up and then went to town and disappointed as favourite up to this trip. Raced new and will be better for that effort. Draws for the run of the race and can bounce back. NORMAN (2) won for Waller on debut as expected and then ran favourite again beaten 1.2L at Kembla Grange. Draws well and the step up to the mile will suit. THEO LEGION (6) was tracking well before the latest over a bit longer than this. He will be right in the finish forgiving that. REAL PEACE (5) just missed at Canberra in the 65 and also has claims.
SELECTIONS: Backing Toesonthenose.

WARRNAMBOOL: RACE 5 @ 1:15 PM

Keen on KING OF PHARAOHS (2). He returned as a gelding at Bendigo and raced on the speed before bolting in by 3.5 lengths. Up to 2000m is ideal, he's always shown plenty of talent and looks ready to deliver on it. ACCUSE (12) has been tracking nicely this preparation, putting in his best run last start at Cranbourne. Draws tricky but should be in the finish. WITSABOUTHIM (4) was just fair first up at Warwick Farm but will be much fitter and has run well up to 1900m before so looks suited up in trip. SPRINGVALE ROAD (10) won on debut and will be further improved.
SELECTIONS: King Of Pharaohs to win.

WAGGA: RACE 5 @ 3:00 PM

TARAASHOQ (5) is a former UK galloper resuming for a sharp Sydney barn. He's been away 280 days but has trialled and can win in this company if presented on-song. Draws for a soft run and kicking of at the mile won't bother. JIGGLER (8) belted the Maidens by 4.5L at Goulburn and then led at Canberra this trip bet 7-4F and faded late after working early. He will be better for that and Berry is a key booking and will use the rail. EYES TO EYE (7) disappointed as favourite at Canberra lifting to the middle distance and comes back to the mile with the blinkers applied first time. He will push forward and this is winnable if he produces his best. ELLA AMELIA (12) deserved the CL1 win here 11 days ago and won't have to improve much to be a player.
SELECTIONS: With Taraashoq if the money comes.

GATTON: RACE 4 @ 2:22 PM

A GOOD CHANCE (4) resumed in good order and hasn't had much luck the two since. He draws the rail and a 2x winning rider is re-united. He wins at best and gets another chance. CURRY CONNECTION (5) has been threatening the last three and gets plenty of weight relief. She's a chance. NEW ALLIANCE (1) resumes in easier grade and has a sharp fresh record. Has a big weight but should run well. TOURMASTER (2) has a handy claim and fitter won't be far away.
SELECTIONS: Backing A Good Chance.

PINJARRA SCARPSIDE: RACE 7 @ 4:40 PM

LASSOO THE MOON (5) on top in the last. She was a gritty winner on debut at this track and has been given time to mature. She looks capable of making the step up today. LET'S GALAHVANT (2) comes here first up after a fruitful first campaign. He draws well to get a nice run behind the speed and should be in the finish. MIRROR MOON (3) ran second at all three starts last preparation but typically races well fresh and should do so again here. SILVER BO (9) steps up in grade but is racing well and should be at peak fitness.
SELECTIONS: Lassoo The Moon to win.
