Bundaberg Race Club licence reinstated

3 minute read

The licence of the Bundaberg Race Club has been reinstated following its response to a Show Cause Notice issued by Racing Queensland in March 2011.

The Show Cause Notice was issued to the Bundaberg Race Club following concerns regarding corporate governance compliance, the financial position of the Club and its ongoing viability.

Racing Queensland has today confirmed that the Bundaberg Race Club has provided all the relevant information requested within the Show Cause Notice and that it has delivered a revised business model that will provide a solid platform to secure the long term future of the Club.

Chairman of Racing Queensland, Mr Bob Bentley said the Bundaberg community has thrown its weight behind the Race Club through the provision of financial support and this has enabled the new committee to develop a revised operating model.

“The Club has the full support of Racing Queensland and the Bundaberg Regional Council and with the support of the local community I have no doubt that the new committee will continue to deliver a quality venue that produces competitive racing for the benefit of on-course patrons,” Bentley said.

In lifting the suspension placed upon the Club in March 2011, Racing Queensland will require the provision of ongoing monthly financial statements to enable the finance department of Racing Queensland to review the financial position of the Club on a monthly basis.

The Bundaberg Race Club is scheduled to host its next meeting on Saturday, July 9, 2011, which will see the running of the Bundaberg Gold Cup and Lightning Handicap.
