Racing NSW Stewards today conducted an inquiry into the analyst's finding of Procaine in the urine sample taken from Electric Eagle following that gelding winning at Bowraville on Saturday, 12 March 2011.
Evidence today was taken from Mr Graeme Walters, trainer of Electric Eagle, and (via telephone) Racing NSW Senior Official Veterinarian, Dr Craig Suann, and ARFL Operations Director, Mr John Keledjian.
Mr Walters pleaded guilty to a charge under AR178 of having brought a horse to the racecourse for the purpose of engaging in a race whereby a prohibited substance was detected in a sample from it following the race.
In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account Mr Walter's clean record over along period in racing and his guilty plea. After taking all circumstances into account the Stewards issued a fine of $6000.
Mr Walters was advised of his rights of appeal.Acting under the powers of AR177, Stewards ordered the disqualification of Electric Eagle from its first placing in the Class 1 Handicap at Bowraville on 12 March 2011 and amended the placings to read:-
12 March 2011 - NRJC (Race 3, Class 1 Handicap):
1st - Norwood2nd - Change For Better
3rd - Pale Moon Rising
