Pinjarra Race Meeting Transferred

3 minute read

Following an inspection of the Pinjarra track the meeting on Thursday has been transferred to Northam.

Stewards conducted an inspection of the Pinjarra Park race track surface earlier today. Concerns with some areas of the track were identified during the previous race meeting on Thursday, 17 July 2014 which the Pinjarra Race Club and RWWA Stewards have continued to monitor.

As part of today’s inspection two horses galloped on the course proper. Regrettably the areas of the track which presented concerns at the last meeting were not considered suitable for racing by both riders and Stewards. Accordingly, RWWA is unable to approve the track to conduct the race meeting scheduled for this week.

RWWA has now implemented a contingency plan to transfer the meeting scheduled for this Thursday, 31 July 2014 to Northam Race Club. The rail on the Northam track will be in the true position allowing full fields to be maintained.

Due to the difference in track configuration, the following distance amendments are necessary for this meeting:

Race 1 now 1100m (previously 1200m)

Race 2 now 1100m (previously 1200m)

Race 5 now 2200m (previously 2000m)

Race 6 now 1100m (previously 1100m)

Race times for this meeting will remain unchanged.

RWWA thanks the Northam Race Club for their co-operation in implementing this plan allowing disruption to the racing programme and inconvenience to our stakeholders to be minimised.

Further assessment of the Pinjarra Park track surface will be undertaken in coming days to allow a decision on the remaining three race meetings scheduled at this venue to be communicated to the industry.
