Cootamundra Turf Club will have that 'grand final' feel when it holds its annual Darley Cootamundra Cup meeting this Sunday 5th October

"We will be racing on NRL's Grand Final Day and the day before the Labour Day Public Holiday so it's a great time to come out to the races at Cootamundra," said CTC's president, Brad Shields. "And we're expecting a sizeable crowd with perfect weather conditions forecast.

"Darley’s Twin Hills Stud, located in Cootamundra, has been been a tremendous supporter of the Cootamundra Cup and we're always grateful."

The $20,000 Darley Cootamundra Cup (1600m) has been previously won by Just a Dash before he went on to win the Melbourne Cup. Support race is the $17,000 Manildra Meat Company Handicap (1200m).

"Our Club will be offering a $2000 bonus to the day’s leading trainer on a 3-2-1 points basis. Cup Day is a community and family event, and local school P & F committees and sporting clubs assist running the bar, the BBQ and the gate.

"We have lots of activities planned on the day including a Fashions on the Field contest, a jumping castle, face painting and there will be a courtesy bus operating. Other major sponsors I must mention include GM Scott Meat Processors, South West Slopes Credit Union, Cootamundra Concrete, XXXX Gold and Bowness Stud.

"We are also running a lucky racebook competition whereby each racebook is individually numbered, and prior to the running of the Darley Cootamundra Cup we will draw one number. The holder of that racebook will win a night's accommodation at Waldorf Apartments opposite Rosehill Racecourse kindly donated by Waldorf Apartments.

"Darren Pearce (CEO of Australian Turf Club) has kindly donated two entrance/members tickets to Rosehill Gardens with a table for two in TJ's Champagne Bar plus a $100 Food and Beverage Voucher - it makes a great package!"
