Sydney Specials: Hawkesbury - 1st May 2021

Can't say I'm overly thrilled to be betting at Hawkesbury on Saturday, I doubt anyone ever is but hoping we can bounce back after a frustrating day last weekend.

In some ways we got a lot of things right, but unfortunately weren't able to make them pay.

Saturday's card at Hawkesbury on the whole is pretty solid, had it been at Randwick or Rosehill you'd be pretty happy to bet up.

Not sure if it's just the camera angle but something about Hawkesbury just feels a bit icky.

Nonetheless we go again and happy to play in the Highway with the Will Freedman trained Tipping Point.

Only lightly raced he displayed good ability in his maiden preparation before toying with them first up at Orange.

If you haven't seen the replay I suggest you take a look as you won't see a more impressive maiden win in the country.

Backed off the map he duly saluted and clearly has talent.

Steps up to 1400m and this has clearly been a target with BOBS Silver Bonus attached ($19K).

Rates highly off that first up win and confident he has more to come.

The knock being he is likely to settle in the back half of the field, just hoping Buckley can get him into the clear.

Respect the Kody Nestor trained Golden Gorge with Nash booked but with each-way odds available about Tipping Point, I'd rather swing his way as I can't see him missing a hole.

The Gerald Ryan trained Ellsberg made light work of them first up and appears well placed to go back-to-back in the Hawkesbury Guineas.

Having come a long way in his maiden preparation he returned a new career peak first up and sets up nicely with Clark sticking aboard.

The same combination won this race with Spill The Beans in 2016, now Gerald aims to do it with Ellsberg who to date is Spill The Bean's highest rated son.

At his best when allowed to stride to the front expect Clark to adopt these tactics on Saturday with John Sargent trained Elizabeel a possible fly in the ointment.

Either way trust Clark to make the right decision and with improvement to come he should have these covered.
