Brisbane Best

3 minute read

We enjoyed a winning day north of the Tweed last weekend with Double Impact doing it easily pretty early on in the program to give us a bit to play with.

Each-way punters who had a go at Gundy Son turned a small profit, the only downer was Saint Encosta winning the second after I potted him fairly extensively last week. What an ordinary race that was.

We’re back at Eagle Farm now and the banker this weekend comes in race six where the supremely talented Avaladyluck is out to cash in on her potential.

There’s no doubting her ability, she just needs to learn how to harness it and once she’s done that she’ll move onto bigger and better things.

As for Saturday’s assignment, it’s probably the easiest she’s faced since her resuming win in midweek grade here back in June.

Since then she’s been threatening to win again, but just keeps misbehaving and scuppering her chances.

Avaladyluck finished third here two back over the trip behind Carmine King, and that race has since produced four winners.

She’ll have no excuses today from gate two, and the $2.70 at this point is pretty appealing.

In the race prior I’m very tempted by the $5 on offer about Mukaddamah Son.

He has a couple to beat in Kurtley and Ferment and I reckon he’s going well enough to do just that.

Two weeks back he weaved his way to the line late on to get within half a length of Ferment.

He now meets Ferment 2kg better off at the weights, and he’ll be better suited on the bigger track which should be much firmer now.

Kurtley brings a different formline into this one having won his last couple most recently in midweek grade at Canterbury.

He’s showing plenty of promise but might just get caught in an awkward spot from barrier nine.

Mukaddamah Son is ultra consistent and should give you a good ride at his price.

The lay of the day comes nice and early in what’ll be a very speedy opening.

Delago Bolt has come up $2.70 and that looks a bit short for a horse who has a slightly annoying habit of flashing home into a minor placing.

The form around him this campaign is solid enough behind the likes of Howmuchdoyouloveme and Doubtfilly but if he leaves himself too much to do again today the result will be the same.

Adebisi is back on his home track after a sightly disappointing Ramornie Handicap and he’s been given a month between runs.

The 1000m at Eagle Farm is ideal for him and he’ll be tough to catch, even with the big weight.

Funtantes is the other one Delago Bolt has to get past at some point.

She carries just 53.5kg with the apprentice riding and her last two runs rated very well for a race like this.

The $2.70 is far too short for mine.
