Fighting Sun should further confirm himself as a leading Golden Slipper player at Rosehill on Saturday.

The Gai Waterhouse-trained colt has been freshened since a most encouraging debut win over Boomwaa.

It was an exciting performance where he was positioned prominently throughout before surging clear over the final 100m.

His winning effort was awarded a Timeform rating of 109p, a figure which has Fighting Sun sitting highly amongst the current crop of two-year-olds.

The Northern Meteor colt has since been kept ticking over with a 1050m Randwick trial win and rates clear on top in Saturday’s Listed Canonbury Stakes (1100m).

Fighting Sun should get the run of the race from barrier 3 and connections have elected to apply the blinkers as well.
