While it won’t be a matter of turning up, Bouzy Rouge appears to have an edge in class and has been weighted accordingly with 59.5 kilograms.

Only two other horses – Pitt Street and Kurtley – will carry above the 54 kilogram limit.

Pitt Street has been placed at his past three starts, while Kurtley is first-up from a break over 1500 metres.

Bouzy Rouge has finished fourth at her past three starts since winning the Mona Lisa at Wyong.

Last year, Griffith and Ryan won the Cup with Akamas and Bouzy Rouge has been installed as favourite ahead of Pitt Street to do the same.

Legendary jockey Robert Thompson won three races on Cup day last year including the Skellatar Sprint with the favourite Darcey and also the Mayors Cup aboard Monaco Doll.

Griffith will also saddle up last start winner Kwillas Law, while Oh My Papa is considered the other main chance.

The only scratching is Rhyno Chaser leaving a full field of 14.

Ryan has strong chances in the other feature races linking again with Griffith for the Mayors Cup with All That Excites.

He will partner veteran Floral Insight who has to lump 63.5 kilograms in the Skellatar over 1000 metres.

From the inside alley, last start winner Merconman will prove hard to hold out along with Just Crewsin’ and Texan Lad.
