Brisbane Best: Toowoomba – April 8

Toowoomba will host this Saturday’s feature Brisbane meeting with 10 competitive races on the programme.

The two plays we have found could serve you well if you decide to play our Free Racing and Sports Tournament on Saturday which is exclusive to site users.

Cylinder Beach (Race 7 #1) has been racing in terrific form of late and will appreciate the drop in grade, following a solid effort when seventh, beaten just over two and a half lengths in the Group 2 Ajax Stakes at Randwick.

The winner of that race It’s Somewhat has since gone on to win the Group 1 Doncaster and Cylinder Beach looks very well placed to return to the winners circle.

The Desleigh Forster-trained runner steps up to the 2000m where he has placed previously and if he runs up to his recent form he will be very hard to hold out in the Toowoomba Cup.

Will certainly be tested by the likes of Sheiswhatsheis but he will get a good run from barrier 7 and at $2.50 looks the best bet of the day.

Later in the programme, Hi I’m Back will look to continue his strong recent form when lining up in the Class 6 Plate over 1100m.

The Tony Gollan-trained runner has been ultra consistent this campaign and was solid enough in listed company last start behind Upstart Pride at the Gold Coast.

Won his start prior to that and the $11 on offer today represents terrific each way value with Jim Byrne remaining on board.

Needs a bit of luck from the wide draw but should settle off the speed and if he runs up to his recent efforts he can certainly make his presence felt.

Keep both Cylinder Beach and Hi I’m Back in mind if you decide to play our Free Racing and Sports Tournament on Saturday.
