Bring Me Roses, a maiden filly having only her third start showed promising in running second. Amerock raced outside the leader (Sky Punch), got to a narrow lead at the 200m and then battled on well for third. Evil Cry was handy fourth, briefly looked the winner when he got to the front in the straight before battling on for (3.1 lengths) fourth while the favourite, the Shadwell-raced colt Mutamayel was third on the rails but was under pressure on the Soft7 track coming to the home turn, racing below expectations in finishing (8.2 lengths) seventh and should appreciate returning to a firmer track.
