Sunshine Coast will hold this weekend’s feature meeting in Queensland with some big competitive fields on the programme.
Early in the day Smartypy will be looking to continue her strong recent form when she lines up in the No metro win over 1200m.
The Chris Munce-trained runner has won both outings since joining the new yard, the most recent over 1200m in a Benchmark 65 Handicap at Ipswich.
Jeff Lloyd who is undefeated from two rides on the mare remains on board and despite drawing wide should get the speed on up front to settle back in the field with some cover.
The former Bjorn Baker-trained runner is building a solid career record and the $3.50 on offer looks a good bet.
Hirtshals and Intrinsic look among the main dangers but Smartypy made significant improvement last start and with even luck from the wide draw here can make it three on the bounce.
Later in the day Racecourse Road will be looking to go one better when he lines up in the Three-year-old Handicap over 1000m.
Also trained by Chris Munce, the three-year-old gelding was very good from a wide draw last start when second to Spending My Time and he has drawn to get a much better run in barrier 4 today.
Form in his debut campaign against some good opposition in Group and Listed company was credible and the current price of $5 offers a decent each way bet in this field.
Defence Missile was very good when winning over 1200m at Doomben last start on a slow track but I think at the odds and the improvement Racecourse Road will take sees him as the one to beat in this field.
Good luck!
