The Melbourne Mail : Caulfield - 11th May 2019

We head back to Caulfield for pretty stock-standard off-season fare this weekend but there is certainly some interesting betting angles to explore.

Our bet of the day is seen as a good deal better than an 'off-season handicapper' with the favourite in race seven, Propelle , likely to find her way into better races than this in the near future.

There are a couple of handy fillies engaged in the 1100m contest but none as promising as Propelle who has always shown plenty of talent and arrives off a big peak performance last time which hinted at her being ready to deliver on all that promise now.

She has a big weight and a wide gate to overcome but has a nice positive to offset those small factors - she's got the most talent! She also has the leading jock in Craig WIlliams in the saddle to help navigate the right path and if he can get the same tune out of her that he got two weeks back then she's likely to be winning.

For an each way play we roll on back to race four where former Japanese galloper Kemono has his first look at the mile in Australia.

Kemono came to Australia with the profile of a smart miler but ran a couple of handy races at 1200m which probably had connections thinking that might be his go. His form has turned patchy this time around but the mile could be just what he needs to drag the best out of him and the inside draw might result in a positive ride. At double figure prices a return to form looks worth gambling on.

Bet of the Day: Race 7 #1 Propelle @ $3.00

Each Way Play: Race 4 #1 Kemono @ $10.00
