Afalonhro On Top In His Singapore Debut

The Mark Walker trained Afalonhro creates plenty of interest in his Singapore when due to line up in the second event on Friday night.

Formerly trained in Australia under the care of Gerald Ryan [Old Name: Royal Captain], the son of Lonhro placed in seven of his  10 attempts.

A model of consistency without winning, Afalonhro bumped into a few handy types along the way  and left Australian shores rated 84 by Timeform.

Lining up in the Open Maiden event, he appears well placed at the weights and he has trialled stylishly in the lead up.

Last seen at Warwick Farm back in May (177 days), Afalonhro has had the two trials in the lead up, most recently scoring by 0.4L in solid time (1:00.59).

Ridden by Razali Zawari, he jumped awkwardly and wasn't ask to do much early when settled at the rear.

Pulled to the outside on straightening, he let down well and looked to do it easily, getting up in the last stride.

Under a good hold throughout, he appears to have acclimatised well to his new surroundings and appears poised to strike first up.

While unlikely to be at his peak, he finds himself in a very winnable assignment and should appreciate racing on the turf.

Quite tractable, suspect they will looks to ride him quiet before producing him in the straight.

The in-form Benny Woodworth takes over and with clear running in the straight, he is expected to be very hard to hold out.

When assessing Timeform weight adjusted ratings, he sits clear and has been given every chance by the handicapper.

The Donna Logan trained Gamely is yet to break through in 19 starts, but has placed on 13 occasions and has finished second at both starts back this time in.

Only narrowly beaten behind Winning Legend last start, he only looks to have to repeat that level of performance to be right in the finish again.

The Lee Freedman trained Sun Orderwas safely held in his stable debut last start, but is obviously better than that and remains under strong notice.

Of the rest debutant Hwasong appears the next in line.

Trained by Stephen Gray, the son of Declaration Of War has shown enough at the trials to suggest he can be competitive despite the wide draw.

Good luck and happy punting.
