Speedy gelding Dream Master looks well weighted when he lines up on a competitive day of racing at Doomben on Saturday.
The Team Edmonds six-year-old has a mind of his own but his manners have been good lately so looks well placed in the Winning Edge 1 Metro Win over 1110m.
Dream Master romped home the last time he raced at this course and distance two back, leading and striding clear for an effortless 4.5L win.
That added to a good record at the track and trip and he was carrying 2kg more than what he will cart on Saturday.
In his only run since he crossed to lead from a wide gate and fought strongly before being grabbed on the post in a decent field at Grafton.
Dream Master drops 3kg in the weights on that outing in open company and while he is drawn a double digit barrier again his gate speed should allow him to get across without working too hard.
His last two runs have returned ratings that are well clear of what his rivals have been producing so if he performs to that level again will be hard to beat.
Capable mare Light Up The Room resumes off a winter carnival campaign and finds a much easier assignment in the Lazy Yak C3 Plate over 1350m.
Her best result of last preparation came when beaten 3L at Listed level two back so will find a class 3 much more to her liking.
Light Up The Room hasn't been seen since May but does race well fresh winning two of her three previous first up runs.
She has a fine record at Doomben – winning twice and only once missing a place – and she is proven at the distance so ticks a few boxes.
The Tony Gollan-trained mare does have a wide gate to contend with but that shouldn't bother her given her preference to settle back in the field.
If jockey Matthew McGillivray can get her into clear air in the straight, look for her hitting the line hard.
