Racing And Sports Canberra Racing Preview Wednesday 3 June
The rail is out 2m the entire and with rain Monday in the Capital the track is likely to race a bit worse than the current Soft 5. There's strong betting races across the card.
Race 1 (1000m) BM65
Nobody's Puppet, Revolver and Prince Jacko are likely to push forward and make the speed. REVOLVER (4) peaks off three placings and only missed 1L here 12 days ago behind Prince Jacko. Expect him to get to the speed earlier today from the low gate, and winning rider McDougall is reunited. He's the one to beat. PRINCE JACKO (2) worked to the lead off a month freshen and surprised the market winning that contest for the form yard. Keeps the 4kg claim and he's a chance to win again holding that level of form. FARTHING WOOD (7) was slow to begin in the same race and worked home okay beaten 2.4L. He is much better than that, but always needs a speed on. BALLISTA (1) has placed both runs back, the latest at Warwick Farm in better grade. She also gets back, but the 3kg claim brings her right into it. NOBODY'S PUPPET (9) races well here and has been knocking on the door. The form-yard is always respected. BET: Backing #4 Revolver to win.
Race 2 (1300m) Maiden
Of the raced, Just Business and Swahili will race handy from the jump. WOODSON (3) debuts for the Ible yard bringing a string of strong trials and he's won the last two easily. He looks to have a stack of ability and draws to advantage. Expect him to take beating with Scorse sticking off the trial wins. HIT THE HIGH NOTE (7) was a still a bit new improving at Hawkesbury and she should be ready to show something today. Gets the rail and the Snowden training partnership strikes at 46% this venue. HINVICTUS (5) is much better than the two runs back suggest and the Pride yard have put on the high course-striker McDougall. He is capable of quick improvement jumping with them. JUST BUSINESS (1) will push forward to the speed and got close at Albury third-up. He won't be far away. BET: Woodson will be fancied, but the value might be with #7 Hit The High Note each way.
Race 3 (1000m) Maiden
Of the raced, Earp, Serb Alert and Turfeze are all capable of running them along. A tricky form assignment and keep a close eye on the market. Of the raced, TURFEZE (11) sets a decent standard. Placed first-up and then made a ratings spike placing second behind One Last Fright at Queanbeyan. She can control the race from the rail and McDougall is a key jockey booking. The mare is sure to take beating. KEZ (4) debuts for the in-form Danny Williams yard and has looked very handy in her two trials. Gets a sticky gate, but looks to have the ability to manage it and a win wouldn't surprise. COPS AND ROBBERS (1) is up to this at best and didn't have the best of it last start at Kembla. Gets the blinkers again and Lever comes to ride again. EMMA'S GIFT (14) debuts for the red-hot Dryden yard and it produced a dominant off-the-shelf winner at the last meeting at long odds. This filly has also had a fairly nondescript trial, but needs to be kept safe. SIFU (8) debuts off a trial win and keep her onside as well. Bet: #11 Turfeze to win.
Race 4 (1200m) BM60
El Nieto can cross over and lead and there's four or five others who will also race close-up. FOR LOVE (3) led and won the 58 by a space at Nowra and then didn't have the best of it in stronger than this. Draws to advantage and the 2kg claim bring her right into it. First time above 1000m, but should see it out. MISS FARLOO (11) looks an each way chance at a price with McDougall sticking. She raced handier but three wide at Albury, and didn't miss by far. Gets the weight relief in this grade and the Wagga near miss three back reads well for today's contest. IRRESISTABLE GIRL (4) runs along and can get back to her best at her third run for the Matt Dale yard. Raced favourite in stronger grade the latest, leading and just missing the placings. Won the CL1 three back as expected at Albury on the heavy track, and back to wet conditions should suit. She uses the rail and the 3kg claim is very handy. MAS DINERO (8) will be fancied building on the comfortable Parkes win in Maiden grade, at his first run for the Ible yard. He's a chance for sure if he lines up in this race. BET: Will play the top two selections #3 and #11 each way the pair.
Race 5 (1000m) CL1
One Last Fight can push forward and lead if she takes her place on the 4-day return. ONE LAST FIGHT (4) is maintaining a strong level of form and just went under at the Wagga Riverside in the 58. Has had strong betting support and presents on a quick return. She gets the opportunity to control the race and should go close. APRIL STORM (2) made sharp improvement winning the Maiden at Kembla racing handy and will be improved for the run. Has to find more again, but gets the winkers first time and will get every chance from the handy gate. MAS DINERO (6) has also accepted for Race 4 and rates well off the comfortable Parkes win - his first outing for the Ible yard. He has more up the sleeve and gets a soft run from the rail. MISSILE MAGIC (1) won the maiden easily for Team Snowden and then was okay after in much stronger than this. Has a sweet gate and it's hard to risk the barn when it comes to Canberra. PINCH MEMORY (3) resumes for the new yard drawn well with a claim. He has a good fresh record and keep onside. BET: With #4 One Last Fight in a tricky race. Rates well off the last two outings, but won't be going overboard.
Race 6 (1300m) BM70 Federal
Action Shale, Embezzlement and Nieces and Nephews look the trio to run them along. Another competitive Federal. ROCKAROSA (5) is a former Waller galloper who got up at Wagga at his first run for the hot Dryden yard with Ford aboard and then went to Sydney and was only beaten 2.1L in the 70 against her own sex. She draws to get a soft run and Ford is reunited. She's sure to take beating. ACTON SHALE (9) has got better as the campaign has progressed. Has won the last two and did it easily in the 66 the latest overcoming trouble. He will ride the speed and should go close for a form yard. BALONNE (6) resumes for Dryden and McDougall's booking suggests the gelding is ready to go. He won here at this level two back and chances are he's going to be much more forward this time around. CACCINI (4) was only beaten 1.4L at Kembla at this level 15 days ago and won't be far away. BET: Backing #5 Rockarosa to win.
Race 7 (1600m) CL1
Pride Of Kalaru will push forward and may get a comfortable lead from Highbury. HIGHBURY (11) found one much too good resuming at Wyong this trip, but covered the others and then closer the same venue. They read well for this and the well-bred gelding has more to give. Ford is a positive jockey booking and expect him to go close for the form Sydney yard. DREAM RUNNER (4) impressed at big odds winning easily here on debut and is a nice galloper in the making. He draws well and is certain to be fitter and have taken learning. He has to find some more, but the Dryden stable is capable of anything at the moment. DREAM MAIDEN (6) made sharp improvement winning the Maiden comfortably at Kembla and that stacks right up. The wide gate could be an issue today. LORD DESANIMAUX (1) hasn't been far away the last two in stronger city company and the low gate and McDougall's booking are positives. BET: #11 Highbury to win.
